  1. The Opel Karl will go on sale in Europe in the middle of 2015, so maybe end of 2015/early 2016 a new Spark will be on sale in the US.
  2. 2012 Spark LS 1.0 (build december 2011) 111.000 miles and this has been the defects/faults in the past 3 years: 0 miles: rear washer would not spray. Fixed same day. ~10.000 miles: new clutch release bearing. ~12.000 miles: new manual transmission (factory defect) ~20.000 miles: new transmission again, not enough oil by workshop. ~25.000 miles: CEL-light. New airflow-sensor. ~40.000 miles: New ABS-rings, ESP-fault. ~60.000 miles: new wheel bearing, rear right. ~100.000 miles: new ESP/ABS-module. Service every 15000 km and 10/40-Oil. This has been the biggest faults, minor stuff w
  3. I am hitting 200.000 km i January. If people are interested i can make a thread about owning a high milage Spark. And as for it being an european 2012 Spark, the problems have been minor.
  4. The shudder is from a bad clutch release bearing.
  5. I actually prefer removing the rear muffler and adding a straight pipe. Gives it a nice and deep sound. And idle sound is pretty good. A bit more noisy when cruising, but not much.
  6. No problem in that - it is a new car, so it should not give you any problems. I have done several long trips without any hickups.
  7. The Spark was the best selling car in 2012 in Denmark, so the is bunches of them everywhere. So not really a headturner as such, by with my mods it seems to attract much attention. Mostly the big stereo is a hit a car meets, since 90% of the ricers don't have a clue to make it sound properly.
  8. Spark was the newest car in its class back in late 2011, early 2012, and I got a pretty good deal on my '95 Corolla. So I traded it in and 4 days later picked up a brand new Spark. About a year later the Market exploded with tiny cars, so if I was looking in the same segment, I would buy a Kia Picanto, Hyundai i10, Ford Ka or VW Up!/Skoda Citigo/Seat Mii.
  9. Maybe broken transmission mount - they have a recall right now here in Denmark about it. What do you need to know about K&N? The only thing it does is make it a bit more loud, so I would not waste my money on it.
  10. Messing with the intake won't give you more power. But some pics from when I had underglow: http://i59.tinypic.com/bga1s4.jpg http://i61.tinypic.com/2mzjg3q.jpg
  11. I have, but will be pulling it all out and putting STP in. Much better product. Doors, roof, under carpets, boot, hatch, bonnet, wheel well and so on. A great improvement.
  12. Never thought of that as a problem - mine are always down in the back.
  13. After a couple of years with various setups in my Spark, lots of research on the web/forums and a lot of stereo builds in various cars, I have decided to finally upgrade my own system one again. The plan is to build it up as a competition stereo for the worldwide contest: EMMA. EMMA consists of regional contests, where the best go to the big finale in Germany. I don't have plans to win anything, just build a high quality setup, and score good marks. It will be a SQ (Sound Quality) install, because it is my daily driver, and i really like nice, clean sound. The setup will consist of: Alpine
  14. No problem. I have a huge power consumption from a big SQ-stereo with amps, subs and speakers. Just a tiny bit of blinking a max load. So lights should not give you any problems.
  15. I am guessing you are talking about the plastic fascia around the radio? Use a small, flat screwdriver to get the first 1 or 2 clips loose. Then it is just about pulling as hard as you can. Fits really tight, so use some force.
  16. Just talked to a bunch of danish owners of the 2013/2014 model year Spark. They have recieved a letter saying their transmission mounts are to be replaced by the dealers. First recall on the Spark here in Europe. The pre-facelift is not affected, even though it is exactly the same car.
  17. Narrow tyres are great in the snow - will cut through deep snow very easy. I have done alot og snow and winter driving in my Spark, and it works perfect. And you don't need tons power in snow. The pounding from the pedal is quite normal for the old and rudimentary system in the Spark, and with good winter tyres it stops great. With 65.000 km a year and 30% of them in snow, I can say it does very well.
  18. I like a nice stereo, and have made quite a couple. This was my latest project in a Mercury Cougar from 1999. Custom radio with 7" screen, 6,5" speakers and tweeters in the front, 6x9 in the back and 2 10" 600RMS subs. All powerd by 2 amps. Clean and stock looking install, and great sound :-) http://youtu.be/DU5-WII3QD4
  19. I have changed both in the back. The problems is not enough grease, and a to tight fitting from your workshop.
  20. Yes, the Opel Karl is the 2016 Spark. Chevy is no longer sold in Europe, so Opel/Vauxhall will be the only one sold. Aveo as Corsa, Cruze as Astra and so on.
  21. Never seen that problem in any Sparks here in Denmark. But we first got the leatherette last year, so still pretty new here in Denmark. Never had any problems with my old fabric seats after 80.000 km.
  22. I have 2 sets of rims and tyres: the expensive rims for summer with good summer tyres, and some cheaper rims for winter with Michelin Alpin 4. The salt on the roads during winter really destroys our cars and rims, so i am glad i have cheep winter rims. By law, we change to winter tyres when the outside temperature is under 7 degrees celsius, and can change back when the temperatur is above again.
  23. I have driven with 190/50-15 for years in the Winter on my Spark, and perfect traction with good tyres. 195/55-15 will also do it.
  24. I did find a website a couple of years ago were the dealers/Chevys official service manual was uploaded. It has sadly been removed, so i am thinking it must be out there somewhere still :-)
