Hobo1 8
I was on tirerack.com looking at wheels and every single one under the TPMS notice is a secondary notice saying that, "Aggressive fitment. May require fender modification for proper clearance." Is this actually a thing to worry about? I wouldn't be getting no bigger than the stock rim size. Also, what kind of rims (if any) are you folks running?
bluer101 241
The biggest problem you would run into would be offset. But with 15 inch wheels you should have no problem. I'm running TSW 17x7 +40 offset. Tire is 205/40 r17. I have no issues whatsoever.
mvp_scott 3
Is the 17x7 affecting your gas mileage or throwing off the speedometer?
bluer101 241
I have not noticed any mileage decrease but I think it rides and handles much better. As for weight it should be pretty much the same. Here is a comparison chart from factory to aftermarket with size and speed. http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/tirecalc.php?tires=185-55r15-205-40r17
mvp_scott 3
Thanks for that link! I'm looking to get wheels and definitely will be going with 17's since the fitment is good!
bluer101 241
I was nervous at first but the guy I know at the shop said if they don't fit after they came in we will order something else. I knew what I wanted before hand and the special ordered them. I do know that between the back of the wheel and the caliper bracket there is only a few mm to spare. I love the way the Spark handles with them.
clivebixby 4
According to http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator, this would create 8mm less clearance on the inner side of the wheel, with respect to the OEM wheels which are 6 inches wide with 40mm offset. So I guess there's a considerable amount of wiggle room.
Shane Duus 6
How does it affect the space at full turn lock? Does it rub at all?
bluer101 241
How does it affect the space at full turn lock? Does it rub at all? None, just like factory.
