Issues with the 2016 manual Spark
clivebixby replied to buffyuna's topic in Chevy Spark 2016+ (Gen IV)
Hi all, I just test drove a new 2016 and 'missed' gear twice shifting into third. Has anyone else noticed sticky or difficult shifting? This will be our second Spark. The "old" 2013 had a similar issue in reverse; it would pop out of gear sometimes, making a rattly noise as the gear teeth zipped along each other, just out of mesh. I found that double-shifting solved the problem (release clutch in neutral first, then press clutch and shift to reverse before engaging). (Sadly, an 18-wheeler plowed into our 2013 on the interstate, but thanks to the high strength steel, we suffered no injurie -

Check this out: http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg4.html So the "J" is the tire bead, and "IS45" means Inset (or positive offset) 45mm.

According to http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator, this would create 8mm less clearance on the inner side of the wheel, with respect to the OEM wheels which are 6 inches wide with 40mm offset. So I guess there's a considerable amount of wiggle room.

Does anyone know of an adjustment, a product, or a "hack" to get a little more lumbar (lower back) support in the front seat? Anyone else find the front seats too concave?

I agree, larger blind spots than other cars. It helps to adjust the rearview mirrors as recommended in driving manuals: 1. when sitting in the driver's seat, lean to the left until your head is almost touching the window, and adjust the left mirror so that you can see the lane behind you. 2. Then lean to the right about the same distance, and adjust the right mirror so you can see the lane behind you. When you are in the middle, the mirrors should show a good view of both blind spots.

As Katherine Tate would say: "That is QUALITY!"

I know I'm really nitpicking on this one.. but why aren't the rear turn indicators orange? Are orange ones available in Europe? I just think it makes more sense, looks better and is probably safer too.

Judging by the rusty beaters I've owned in the past (ungaraged, New England), one of the most important places to protect is the brake lines where they are exposed in the wheel wells. I've had 2 cars lose break lines, one burst while I was driving in -20 F weather!

What Kind of Milage is everyone getting?
clivebixby replied to Tucker's topic in Fuel Mileage & M.P.G.
46-47 MPG this week! New 2013 LT with manual transmission. We brought it home with about 50 miles on it. First fuel fill worked out to ~41 MPG, which agreed with the onboard computer. Now we're at just over 500 miles and this week I've been "hypermiling". 28 mile RT on local "highway" that varies between 30 and 50 mph, some hills but mostly pretty flat. Car seems more peppy than when we first got it. The manual says to baby it for the first 500 miles, not to "drive like you stole it". Also says not to use engine breaking, I wonder why.
