Gluteusmaximus1899 0
When I started my car my phone connected via blue tooth normally. But the radio controll buttons on the steering wheel are non responsive. They are still backlit, but simply don't function when pressed (the entire right side buttons of the steering wheel don't work). Also when I put my car in reverse a weird message pops up on the touchscreen (pictured) despite my car not having a back up camera. I assume it's a software issue, but the chevy dealership says I'm on the hook for a $79.99 diagnostic so they can confirm what's wrong. EDIT: Anyone have any ideas or solutions? EDIT 2: I also just noticed that the outside temp monotor is not reporting/working on the mylink screen. Edited January 23, 2020 by Gluteusmaximus1899 Adding picture(s) and information. Ray Dockrey 97
You might get away with unplugging the battery for a while and letting everything reset. It needs to be unhooked for at least thirty minutes. If not then you will need to take it in and get a reflash done.
Gluteusmaximus1899 0
The battery didn't work, thanks for the "reflash" option.
Gluteusmaximus1899 0
I took it to a Chevy Dealership, they charged me $300 for installing the correct software... Is there any recourse for me? The dealership says that GM "wouldn't/cant" update car software without authorization, in theory he's correct, but that seems to be exactly what happened. Bobby MSME 100
Legally GM can get away stealing your $300 because car is past warranty. The dealer should have given you a steep discount so you will come back a happy return customer. It amazes me how bad big companies have become with public relations. Ray Dockrey 97
Like Bobby said, there is no recourse. Its out of warranty and you are at the mercy of the dealership. If you have multiple dealerships in your area you could have shopped around. A different dealer may have charged less.
AwesomeDale 1
This exact same issue just started happening last week in my 2015 Spark 1LT Manual. Steering wheel controls for radio stopped working, temperature missing from display and “service rear vision system” displays on screen when in reverse. I sure hope I can find some way to fix it without having to pay $300. That is ridiculous.
AwesomeDale 1
Ended up taking it to the dealer. They charged me $221.19 to install 2 updates and “recalibrate”.
T-Rex 0
Now it's my turn. Exact same issues. $200-300 for a software update seems like a lot... We should be able to do this stuff for free.
