dbnspark 7
I had what looked like salt deposits on the carpet when I took delivery of the car (in August). I took delivery late in the day, I needed a car, figured it wasn't a big deal. I was putting in winter mats and noticed it was getting worse(salt like stain), front passenger side carpet was wet. I dried it off with towel, except for stain everything ok. Put in new mat. Checked the next day, carpet wet again. Took mat out. Now I just have a towel there. Car parked in garage. No rain, no other part of interior wet. Garage was not sweating, other cars are fine (no moisture inside). Hopefully I can drop it off at dealer next week. Check out pics. What do you think? I think carpet would have to be replaced due to stain. http://www.flickr.com/photos/41173929@N02/8271527834/in/photostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/41173929@N02/8271527432/in/photostream/
Alyse 0
A little shampoo should get that out no problem. Does it have a smell. I wonder if the heater core is leaking. I had a truck that was leaking and it dripped all over the passenger floor board. It can be tough to find sometimes. Either way if its under warranty take it to the dealer and let them hunt it down. Very frustrating with a new car, that's for sure.
Greg_E 211
Leaking heater core? Do you smell the sweet smell of coolant? Too cold for it to be off of the air conditioning. I think you can check for coolant with a UV light, pretty sure the stuff they used in these cars will fluoresce just like the old green stuff.
dbnspark 7
I don't smell anything.
dbnspark 7
Fixed. Firewall grommets missing. They did shampoo the carpet, unfortunately it was the wrong side!? They did the driver side, passenger side was the side stained. I mean how can you miss it?
Greg_E 211
Firewall grommets can not be field inserted, all the wires go through them and they are not split. I even find it hard to believe they were not inserted properly, but that is possible.
dbnspark 7
I swear thats what the service writer told me, maybe i heard what I wanted to hear. Actual paperwork states found leak at hvac case seal at firewall. tighten and reseal heater case.
Greg_E 211
HVAC case seal would be a different animal and that should have a gasket that can be replaced.
dbnspark 7
uuuggghhh leaking again, this time I see exactly the hose it's dripping from. Back to the dealer Monday, hope I get a loaner.
spark owner's mom 0
My son's spark has the same problem. seems to be something with the air conditioner. took to dealer, they don't seem to know why it's happening yet. they have another one on the lot so they ran it for a while and it has the same problem. they have to do more research. did you ever find out what the problem was when you took it back to the dealer? His carpet looks exactly like yours with the dried salt stains. Please let us know what you found out. thanks
Greg_E 211
There is a drain hose in the bottom of the coil box, goes right through the hump in the center of the car, I'd start there.
Smikster 10
this problem very well may go away after the ac update. (over cooling n freezing up n stuff)
Greg_E 211
If we can get them to do the update, still nothing from Chevy about my last message.
Lil Dew 14
It is probably the A/C drain line from evap core. Sometimes they can get clogged or kinked. That will cause a backup of water. I have had that happen on a number of cars that I have owned.
spark owner's mom 0
Does anybody know how dbnspark made out with his leaking air conditioner problem after he took it back to the dealer? His last post was Jan. 2013 as far as I can tell. I really would like to know if they solved his problem because my son's dealer hasn't gotten an answer back from Chevy yet. thanks
dbnspark 7
Looked at my second write up. A/C drain hose kinked and leaking. Replaced A/C drain hose........................Last month A/C compressor was replaced.
Guest flooded floor
Less than 24 hours after I purchased my Spark (it was pouring rain as I drove off the lot & all night long) I noticed a pool of water in the driver's side rear passenger seat. I immediately called them but the water specialist only comes once a week. After several "puddles" the dealership said water was leaking in through the rear tail light. They resealed the grommet. We shall see during the next rain shower.
Guest Leslie
Was the problem fixed after sealing the rear tail light? I keep having the same problem. I even fixed the seal to my door.
