Ervill 0
Hey everyone. I was wondering about the differences between the US. version and the european version of the spark. I know that our Spark is a 5 people car, and we can't get Mylink in the vehicle. I also know that ours has way better fuel-economy than the US version. OUrs is rated at 48 MPG mixed driving with 56 MPG highway driving and 43 in the city. And lastly i know that ours is available in a 1.0 L, 68 hp. engine Are there other differences? - Ervill. P.s. Getting my Spark on Thursday!!!! very excited!!! Edited January 27, 2014 by Ervill
austex04 48
48mpg mixed? Must be imperial gallons. I think the reason why ours does not have the smaller engine is becouse it's very slow, even the reviewers over there complained about it. The software and emissions is probably different as well. Ours has 10 airbags total.
Ervill 0
I've bought the 1.0, and i didn't find it "slow". Easily did 110 km/t on the motorway. I just converted it using google, so i wouldn't know if the built in converter uses imperial or the other one. It is measured to 20.5 km/l with 25 km/l on highways.
jibb3r 29
5 people? That would be interesting to see!
psquare75 35
Nose and rear bumper are different I believe. And ugh, as much I love this car, it REALLY could use a little more oomph..
malibuguy 14
I seriously plan to turbocharged hers once...she lets me. 5lbs of boost with a small IHI turbo to fatten up the mid range is all that's needed.
Ervill 0
Yeah, it holds 5 people here. Pretty easily i might add (from my experience)I'm 6'3, and i can easily sit in the backseat, so i'm happy Odd that they made the two models so different.
Greg_E 211
I would have purchased a 1 liter if the sold it over here and maybe remover a few hundred pounds of bulk. I drove a 3cylinder metro for years, good little car.
Ervill 0
It's a 4 cylinder 1.0 Saved 2K USD by buying the 1.0. Edit: The european version is 460 lbs lighter than the US version (2LT vs the fully trimmed LTZ we have here) Interesting. Edited January 29, 2014 by Ervill
NoSprak 17
Wonder if it's the infotainment and power windows that adds the weight? I can't imagine the structure would be muhc different for the US market.
malibuguy 14
Crash standards...
Greg_E 211
Manual windows might be 100 pounds total, probably another 50 for airbags, that's a lot of extra going somewhere.
dulsaf2630 9
14x4.5 wheels with 155/70 tires, US has 15.
