ValorHeart 1
Hello, i've got 2013 Spark 1.2L engine with 2,300 KM's, I've notice that there is a dealy when pushing the gas pedal until the engine responds, is anyone else has that issue? is there any software update that fix that issue? it's really annoying, Also when pushing the gas pedal really really slowly and gently the engine choke to low rpm and gets higher so it won't shut down the engine, Thanks, Adi. ValorHeart 1
Am i the only one who has this delay?
psquare75 35
I do notice a delay compared to my 79 F100, but that has a carburetor... drive by wire will always have a bit of delay, nature of the beast.
ValorHeart 1
That really sucks and annoying, it's like 1-2 seccond delay from pushing the gas pedal until it response
psquare75 35
You'll get used to it. Ford Powerstroke diesels are even worse.
austex04 48
Every vehicle I've driven with electronic throttle has this annoying delay, even on a $70 grand Lexus, it's even more pronounced with a MT. It took me a month or two to get used to this, you'll start to anticipate the delayed response after driving it longer and shifting from stops.
psquare75 35
A few companies offer a delay reduction box (I've seen em for Cobalts) that eliminates this delay a bit. I'm not sure how it works.
NoSprak 17
Some people claim adding a ground strap to the electronic throttle body helps with speed - but it's a function of the computer. You can tune it out pretty well. I have a hard time going from my Focus (HORRIBLE lag) to my Cherokee or my dad's pickup - both with real cables. The truck is even worse as it's a manual. I always end up barking the tires taking off!
Trancer07 30
In my opinion, it's the release of the gas that is delayed. Sometimes when I shift, the car likes to rev like I still have my foot on the gas when I engage the clutch.
