The sad part is I really loved the Spark and was an avid owner in talking about it and praising it. With in one year I had way to many issues to justify keeping it. I bought it thinking if it survived some of the countries it's been in then it SHOULD be very dependable. I was let down, I still went with Chevy, not because GM haha, but because my dealer is really awesome. I think one of the big issues with the Spark is many Chevy dealers have NO idea what their working on or the issues that are going on. Hard to fix problems when you don't even know the exists. I really hope the Spark improves

Got it on the highway today. Everything sounded normal. Now lets see how much oil it burns over the next few miles...

I believe the build date is 11/12. Can't look right now as my car is covered in 8 inches of snow. I'm not going to drive it like I stole it until I find out if I'm trading it or not. I want it to sound nice and normal when they check it out to value it. If that doesn't pan out I'll take it to the dealers lot and do my best to replicate a Nascar race at Daytona around their lot.

Got the car back from the dealer. Want me to drive is 500 miles and see how much oil I lose. I'll keep you guys updated on it, that is if it doesn't find it's self traded in.

Yeah I will never understand how a engine with no oil could NOT throw a code. It's nuts, sounds like I'm at the beginning of a really long road since my cars doing this now. Still waiting on a response from my dealer. Getting a completely new engine will probably take forever. Took 3 weeks to get a Valve Cover Gasket from South Korea for me. An engine from South Korea would probably take 2 months. Unless GM has got smart enough to actually have parts here in the US for them.

My plan, at least at this point, is to hope the dealer gets the engine running some what decent. Once they do I'm trading it. I understand that cars have issues here and there, it's part of owning a car. BUT I will have this car a year in 10 days and I've had; Valve Cover Gasket leak, a tire with a flat spot that they wouldn't replace, A/C not working or blowing warm air, recirculate flap not engaging correctly, engine knocking, engine completely running out of oil, and transmission losing power in mid drive. I can't imagine how much this car will cost me once it gets out of warranty. If this

Dealer kept it, they gave me a Sonic as a rental. Already regretting that I got a Spark over a Sonic. I'll play the waiting game for now...

I hope it doesn't mess up my warranty by putting oil in but it ate/lost all of its oil in 3000 miles. Theres some SERIOUS issues! I have a video of what the engine was doing before more oil was put in it, may not be evidence enough but have to get the car to them and avoid the engine locking up or creating more damage. I'm starting to seriously consider trading it and taking the loss.

I went out and bought Castrol EDGE 5W-20 Synthetic oil thats Dexos approved. Couldn't find dexos 5W-20 synthetic blend anywhere. The car took 3.5 quartz of oil. I'm beyond irritated and pissed with this car right now. I had to put oil in it just the avoid the engine locking up. No oil light...no CEL...no anything. Just the motor knocking insane. This is 3000 mile since my last oil change. Taking it to the dealer tomorrow, beyond pissed.

We'll the problem might be there's no oil in the damn thing. Pulled the dip stick out and there's almost no oil now.

I'll get a vid posted for you guys. It does it in park and in drive. I can see it pulse at night when driving in my rear view mirror. I witnessed it many time as my girlfriend pulls out of the drive way. It becomes annoying to people behind me at fast food drive thrus, every time I let off the break and press it again its starts pulsing. lol

On the oil I'm not 100% sure as the dealer it the one who did the oil change, should be whats recommended. So just think, you rev the engine and it sounds like a card in a fan that speeds up with the engine. It doesn't do it all the time, when I go to record it doesn't do it. Damn thing sounds like a go kart after getting of the highway some days.

The noise is constant and speeds up with acceleration and decreases when letting off. Just came in from checking the oil on the dip stick. Oil only goes to the middle dot. So it's not full. My gage says 58% oil life. Feel like I'm burning/losing oil here...hmmm

I've had people ask me, is it electric? Is it a smart car? Why are you filling up at a gas station? Did you import it from Japan? How many MPG's do you get? How much does it cost to fill up? One of my favorites, because I live in a small town with old farmers, THAT'S A CHEVY???

Well I have a new noise. My car is making a noise after driving on the highway for 20-30mins. I don't hear it until I slow down on the exit. I would explain the sound as "a baseball card in a bicycle tire" kind of sound. It speeds up with higher speeds, and slows down at lower speeds. It's constant when sitting still. What's throwing me off is that it only does it when I get off the highway, once I drive in town to work for a little while it goes away. It's not easy to pin point, I would say exhaust but I may be wrong. Anyone have any thoughts?

So we have a few that have had this. Well I'm at least I'm not the only one! If I got pulled over and got ticketed for it I would be pretty pissed. I just wanted to know if it was common, with the amount of snow and rain we've been getting here in Indy it helps. I think it's saved my Spark a few times when people are behind me in heavy snow fall. I like it! I will try to get a video up soon!

I live in Indiana, we are having a record year for snow totals and temperatures. I have also seen a drop in MPG's, went from 38-45mpg to 34mpg-37mpg. This is every car though, not just the Spark. Winter takes a tollfor the reasons AUSTEX04 listed above

Thanks Greg, it has been a common issue for me. This if after a repair and a new gasket was installed so I'm not sure why it's happening again. When it's time to go back to the dealer I will have a list of issues.....again.

Let us know what the dealer finds out or does.

I've circle where the puddles of oil were before getting it repaired at 4000 miles in this picture. It's not as bad this time but just a reference since I don't have the old picture anymore.

So another issue I've had with my Spark. When I first got it I noticed and issue with the valve gasket about 4000 miles into owning the car. Puddles of oil were building up right by the valve cover. I showed the dealer and they ordered the part, which took 3 weeks to get from South Korea. They fixed it and the problem was solved, I thought! It's starting to do it again (23000 miles) but not as bad. I've attached photos of what it's doing. Has anyone else had any issues like this?? I've looked at other used Spark pictures and have seen some with this issue and some that don't. Thoughts?

It doesn't seem defective. Doesn't matter the speed or if I'm sitting still. It looks programmed to do it, so I'd lean more towards it was installed at the dealer that my dealer got it from. I look further into it in my paperwork when I get a chance.

I think we've come to the conclusion that it was added to my Spark at a dealer before being transferred to the dealer I bought it from.
