  1. Hey, i have a 2019 chevy Spark lt, i got a problem where the car cranks but wont start, it tries to start but wont. i have no clue whats wrong with it, ive checked if it had spark, fuel and compression and it has all that, even checked the fuses but still nothing. it has been hit in the front but the only damage was the radiator and the bumper, i dont know if theres a module there that makes the car not start or what. also tried a obd2 scan but theres no codes, it does have a check engine light when it cranks. please help ive tried everything but nothing works.
  2. i took this 2014 Chevrolet Spark to the mountains. Its only a 85 hp engine. Thus it was behaving pretty badly on the I70. I was driving at around 30-40 mph.. To make sure the engine did not blow up. The car was not very good at acceleration anyway but after I returned I think the problem increased. Colorado roads are too up and down. So whenever I am trying accelerate on uphill, the car engine groans a lot. The engine fluctuates and the car rocks like a boat front and back.. Like its accelerating then immediately losing power, then again accelrating and losing power like that.. Under 3000 rpm i
  3. Hello, I am getting an error code: P0119 (Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Circuit Intermittent) with check engine light on 2013 Spark 1.2L. The local dealer replaced the coolant reservoir (apparently a common issue with this model) but the error code still persists. Has anyone had the same issue before? Could you give me some pointers? I think the next step is to replace the coolant temp sensors. At least I see there are three of them, one at the water inlet, one at the thermostat housing and one bolted on to the radiator. Unfortunately, the dealer wants me to buy the entire ther
  4. Hi Spark Family! I'm the new owner of a 2015 Chevy Spark LT. Honestly, I love nearly all parts of the car but i'm having one concern. When I step on the gas and it accelerates in the 10 mile to 30 mile speed range, the vehicle gets a little shaky. I don't really know how to diagnose the problem but a friend said it could be the transmission not shifting properly. It's more of a back and forth shaking and it sometimes feels like its trying to brake when i'm not braking. Once I get passed 30, it drives like a beauty. The dealership I bought it from has a 30-day, 1,000 mil
  5. I bought a used 2013 Spark (w/ automatic transmission) about a month ago - it has high mileage (83k) but I had it inspected before I purchased - my mechanic said everything, including engine and transmission, were in great shape except the tires, which I had replaced a few weeks ago. However, in the last 3 weeks, the car has stalled 3 times. Twice it happened while taking a sharp right turn, slightly uphill, at a slow speed, while in my parking garage at work (after driving only about 2 miles from home). The third time it happened when my boyfriend was driving the car — we had jus
  6. I see that the car is still under Powertrain Warranty which should cover these repairs. Other warranty expired already. What should I know or take with me before I go to the dealership to have them repair/replace the engine ? I have records of all the oil changes. Will they give me a rental ? I don't know what to expect during this whole process, but ultimately I hope they car repair this without any out of pocket costs. I am not going to complain if I don't get a rental car or if they take around 3 weeks to fix this. But I just want to know what to expect. I see about
  7. We are 90% done with removal of the engine and transmission from a 2014 spark with manual shift. It is not real obvious how the shift linkage cables disconnect from the transmission. Can someone offer any help on this? Here is an image of where the linkage goes into the bracket. There is an orange plastic part that appears to be some type of retainer.
  8. OK..I have noticed a few members ask what the correct compression in PSI is for the 1.2L Spark engine is. With the compression ratio at 10.5:1 the correct compression is 152-PSI at sea level and about 148-PSI at elevation of 1,000ft ASL. Average is 150PSI at 500ft ASL. Of course ambient temp and elevation play a fairly small part in the PSI #. As you can see the difference between sea level and 1,000ft does not produce much of a difference..the ambient temp variation is even less. Surprising as it may seem, all engines of all types have the exact same PSI at the same compression ratio. For exa
  9. Yesterday I did a 'stress test' on my 2013 Spark/Auto. There is a long flat road with very little traffic and I drove the Spark at 100mph with A/C on for about 50 mile set on cruise, stopping only to turn around then another 50miles at 100 mph back. That's really pushing it and no issues. The oil was checked afterwards and after lots of high speed trips since my last oil change about 3500mi ago the oil was still at the top on the dipstick. Anyone else driven your Spark hard and fast?
  10. I have had my Spark for 1 year. I have had so many problems with it. Shifts Erratic Down shifts while driving Wont shift at all, usually traction control light is on & transmission light comes on but not always Motor ticks like a lifter is ticking burns and consumes oil up!! #4 Spark plug fowled but was fixed Oil Smells like gas
  11. So another issue I've had with my Spark. When I first got it I noticed and issue with the valve gasket about 4000 miles into owning the car. Puddles of oil were building up right by the valve cover. I showed the dealer and they ordered the part, which took 3 weeks to get from South Korea. They fixed it and the problem was solved, I thought! It's starting to do it again (23000 miles) but not as bad. I've attached photos of what it's doing. Has anyone else had any issues like this?? I've looked at other used Spark pictures and have seen some with this issue and some that don't. Thoughts?
