Jason MacKenzie 3
So after going through numerous posts to see what people are doing to replace the rear speakers in their Sparks, I decided to think out side the box!! I currently own a black 2013 Chevy Spark 1LT 5spd manual. I just recently sold my 98 GMC Sierra 4x4 and stripped all the speakers I installed. I then began to brainstorm to see how I could fit the two 6 1/2" 220watt Pioneer door speakers. It took me about a week to come up with "step up" mounts that would make it possible to install the 6 1/2" speakers. they are made out of three layers of 5/3" MDF and one layer of 1/4" MDF. They fit perfectly, and they sound incredible. Next install to come is installing one of the two 12" 1000watt JBL GT120 competition series subs in the wheel well stay tuned for more installs and pictures thanks for taking a look and I hope I have inspired you to GO BIG OR GO HOME lol cheers Jason Edited December 8, 2013 by Jason MacKenzie Spark2013LT19464
stevesparky 20
Thanks. Good ideas you have. Why such a large Amp? Just that you already have the AMP? Gave me some good ideas.
Jason MacKenzie 3
no amp yet, the amp will be powering the 12" sub when it is installed. the front and rear speakers will be powered from the MyLink system which can handle up to 50watts rms per side!! glad I've given you some good ideas! stevesparky 20
Sorry misunderstood. The JBL 1000 watt is a SUB and not a AMP. The wheel well for the spare tire, would be a great place for an enclosed 12" SUB.

ashren315 0
Nice install. Just wish this could be done to the fronts as well as tgat is where you want your best speakers for proper soundstage. I'm about to start the install on mine. Adding in a fosgate 3.sixty.3, a power 600a4 and power 800a2 amps with either focal k2 power 100s or rainbow cs 210 vanadiums for fronts and focal PC 100s for the rears and a 12" power series fosgate sub. Clarity is of utmost importance to me as I mostly listen to classical music.

Scotty 0
I just finished making and installing mounts based on your design using 5.25 inch speakers. Worked pretty well and the sound is much improved. The rings were a pain to get consistent in size with my tool setup though. Thanks for the pics and inspiration!
Schaltz 27
I have never understood why people upgrade the speakers in the rear - sure, I did the same thing, but it is not the correct way to do it. Proper components in the front and a sub in the rear. You don't stand with your back to a concert either ;-)
