thecrowtv 8
I paid 325 after tax to get it installed. Below is a picture of the remote off Ebay. http://i.ebayimg.com/t/COMPUSTAR-KEYLESS-REMOTE-FOB-FCC-044JR1600-1WAMR-1600-/00/s/NzIwWDk2MA==/$(KGrHqZHJEEFDN6t2SSZBQ728bERw!~~60_35.JPG It's a one way 1000 ft range remote. thecrowtv 8
upgraded the remote and antenna to the RF-1WG5-SS kit which is the one mile radius kit. Granted in the real world its not happening because thats line of sight. But it does improve the range quite a bit and i got it on ebay for $50.
Colette Birch 0
Can you post what make and model you got? Did you go to the dealer to install? They were quoting me 650.00 for a remote start to be added to my spark....
jibb3r 29
I was quoted almost $500 to have one added to my manual spark, from a third party installer. It was under $300 before I mentioned the manual transmission. I'll start it myself. icepick

It was under $300 before I mentioned the manual transmission. I'll start it myself. Most places will not install remote start systems on a manual vehicle. The reason is the safety clutch. To do it proper, requires extra part and work. The quick dirty way is to run a jumper on the clutch pedal relay. The problem with the later is that the car will turn over even if it's in gear. Not a good thing if you try to remote start a car in a parking lot if it's in gear.
jibb3r 29
Yeah I knew it was more for a manual, just didn't think it would be $200+ more.
