OnStar - hands free calling

When I am speaking the number I want to call, the system starts repeating the number back to me before I am finished. For instance, I say 1999850 and OnStar will voice those numbers back to me while I am talking to enter the last few numbers. Why doesn't it let me say the whole number before doing anything?

I've noticed that, with the Onstar system, you have to really talk fast, don't hesitate, because as you say, it will start reading back to you, the second you pause. I've never really looked into it though, I don't use it too often.

I find it funny listening to people talk to their devices. For some reason they speak as if they are talking to a mentally challenged child, and feel the need to s l o w down their speech. Same with yelling at a drive through speaker.
