RPMs shifting on highway

Hello. I have a 2016 spark, automatic. 84k miles. When I am driving on the highway around 70mph the gears will keep jumping. The RPMs will jump to 4 or 5 and then back down to 2. It will keep repeating this. I can push down the gas to make it shift and it will stop but once I'm coasting again the RPMs will start jumping. You can feel the jerk each time. You can also hear the transmission revving. It will also do this on side roads but not as often. Is this normal?

I'm having the same problem - not normal! I took it to one dealer and they couldn't reproduce the problem. Taking it to a second dealer, as it is getting worse. Sounds like from these forums it is a known and common problem we may have to live with? Sigh. I think this started last fall sometime around Thanksgiving. Have had my 2015 Spark since April 2018 with no other issues.
