Lazerface 24
Back up / Reverse - 921 Front turn signal / Parking - 7444 Hi/Low Beam Headlamp - H13 Licence Plate - W5W Rear Signal / Turn - 7443 Rear Brake / Stop - 7443 Foglamps (optional OEM) - H8 I'll be purchasing new lighting all around, so I thought I'd make this for those of us who try new bulbs or types of replacements. Some cars can have issues with LED replacements, so if you know of something that is incompatible, help us out Edited January 25, 2013 by Lazerface Jopar_X
Greg_E 211
I expect these cars to have a problem with the flasher if you change the turn lamps to LED. This is part of the burned out bulb warning that must be present in the USA. Best thing to do is to swap the turn relay (if these cars use one). Now since there are error codes for pretty much every lamp in the car, maybe they used a heavy duty flasher or control it with the computer and you won't have problems. If you try LED and it doesn't result in a fast flash, then I'll probably change all of mine too. For the break lights, you might look for replacements that offer a flashing brake. My brother put one on his motorcycle and it looks great. What it does is flash real fast two or three times, then comes on full. Very hard to miss and the extra brightness certainly helps too. cbduke89 0
I've been trying to find the correct headlight size for forever! I wanted to do an HID conversion to mine, thanks so much! Has anyone ever done a HID conversion yet? Looks easy but who knows....
Greg_E 211
DDM Tuning would probably have a kit, look for one that has a small solenoid on the lamp to position it for high beam.
Lazerface 24
Id love to see a projector retro fit I personally hate HIDs in a regular housing...but thats a preference I guess, because I see plenty of people with them
Greg_E 211
How much work do you want to put in? (seems I can't paste a link from my Android tablet, google Hella bi-halogen These are fantastic on my motorcycle!
Trancer07 30
I personally dislike HID's. They're so blinding to other drivers.
Greg_E 211
Only the aftermarket adapter kits are blinding, factory HID are just fine. Most states in the USA have laws against adding HID kits to your stock headlight fixtures but it doesn't ever seem to get enforced.
Lazerface 24
So I tried some LED Fog Lamp bulbs (H8) Dont bother buying these, as the 'shaft' is too large of diameter. These have a 20mm diameter shaft, and the slot for our bulbs looks to be more like 15mm or so. Hope I can save someone the headache of trial and error.
Greg_E 211
It would be interesting to see how bright they are compared to the stock lamp outside of the reflector, this might help determine if it is worth the effort to cut the reflector to make them fit.
Lazerface 24
I ordered some of these: Will follow up with install pics (if they fit)
Greg_E 211
How many watts are they supposed to equal or how many lumens are the supposed to emit?
Lazerface 24
These are Cree LEDs, supposed to be 350 lumens. We'll see tho
Greg_E 211
Not sure about the accuracy, but the first hit on google say H8 35 watt are 800 lumens, that's a significant difference: http://store.candlepower.com/h8bulbs.html I bet they will look good, but I don't think the lights will be very functional with those installed. The 35 watt is already less than ideal because it wastes a lot of light with the reflector design. Edited January 31, 2013 by Greg_E
Lazerface 24
7444 LED Bulbs do not work Bought these and they do not blink/flash Add another to the list of 'Not Compatible'
Greg_E 211
Did they throw an error code on the display? Looking through the owner's manual there are a few codes for things like headlight out but I can't remember if there was one for turn signal out. I wonder if they would flash if a "special" LED compatible flasher was installed? I'm not even sure where the flasher is located to see if we can even get one. Once the weather warms up I'll have to find it.
Lazerface 24
No code. I left them in for about 5-10mins to check if it would throw one. They just dont blink :( There is a 'switchback' LED bulb that is white at normal, and flashes amber. But they are $35 a pair. I'll get them later and try those also.
Lazerface 24
I purchased some 7443 bulbs for the front signals, as they were supposed to be compatible with a 7444 socket. Don't bother. They dont fit :(
Burgandy25 0
Anyone ever stumble upon v-leds? I have them in our Dodge Journey and Camaro and the new v3 tritons are amazing. So if anyone is interested swing by them. Also Lazerface, they have a H8 Fog LEDs rated at 850LM. ;-) I see you are taking the plunge for everyone in the LED department :-P Edited June 20, 2013 by Burgandy25
Classing 6
Not ground breaking or anything but for what its worth I installed leds in the tag lights. They work great much whiter light and somewhat brighter. http://www.ebay.com/itm/170906831520?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
Lazerface 24
The H13 Cree LED replacements dont work. So don't bother spending money there either. Anyone ever stumble upon v-leds? I have them in our Dodge Journey and Camaro and the new v3 tritons are amazing. So if anyone is interested swing by them. Also Lazerface, they have a H8 Fog LEDs rated at 850LM. ;-) I see you are taking the plunge for everyone in the LED department :-P 850LM might be ok, but I am going to try an HID kit in the fogs since they have a proper projector lens. Greg_E 211
Only the 2LT has projector fogs, the kit for lower models is a reflector fog.
Hobo1 8
I would like to try these someday, I was going to test them out with my Pontiac Sunfire but never got around to it...https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/daytime-running-lights/10w-high-power-cob-led-auxiliary-light-kit/1322/3044/
