ABS And Traction Control Lights (09 Impala)

Today while sitting at a light my ABS and Traction Control Lights decided to pop up with the "Service Traction Control" warning. Brakes also decided to start squeezing when first stepped on and released (but not while holding the brakes and moving). Is this just the cars way of telling me it's time to do the brakes? Could be the ABS module. I had a similar issue with my Jeep but mine is electronic gremlins. In my extensive research trying to fix this I have heard this issue come up a lot in various vehicles. Usually comes back to ABS module. On mine unplugging the battery was a medium term fix
