Transmission Fluid Check

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I don't have much info about my used 2015 Chevy Spark. I am at 26,000 miles no check lights, no engine issues.

I just had an Oil change, they did not check the transmission fluid.

I would greatly appreciate any advice on how to check the transmission fluid and at what mileage I need to do this?

Tranny fluid won't be an issue for a while. Check the manual for mileage. It lasts a while. I am just doing mine now at 90,000 miles. I have had no trans issues, just doing it for fun/boredom, and most likely for the only time in the cars life. It is recommended at ~97,000miles for a 2013.

Filled for life, change oil if a seal leaks.

Does this go for the 2013 as well? That could save me some cash right now. The manual says different, but I am open to real world answers.

Change tranny oil if your car has undergone SEVERE OPERATING conditions.

I would guess at around 36k miles.

What is severe operating conditions? These are MY DEFINITIONs:

A. lots of stop and go driving in heavy traffic on regular basis

B. Driving on steep hilly roads routinely

C. Carrying heavy loads or trailers frequently

D. If you or other drivers drive in digital mode (foot is always pressing either gas or break pedals)

(coasting to oncoming red light is very good for your car & pocket book

In absence of above conditions, just watch for pink fluid leaking under car.

If none is leaking just save your money and keep on driving.
