puleen 0
I own a 2016 1LT and I notice in the infotainment system under Source I see USB1 and USB2. However, I physically only see 1 USB port at the bottom of the centre console. Is there supposed to be another USB port somewhere else? How do I get access to the USB2? b00duh 2
I know that there is a mini-usb port on the back of the infotainment unit itself. Someone posted a photo of it on a different thread here.
GammaRadiation 12
Sales guy said its a parts bin car, other GM korea cars have a rear s seat port. Take that as you may. Edited August 20, 2016 by GammaRadiation
puleen 0
Confirmed with GM Canada that the USB2 in infotainment is only applicable for cars with more than 1 USB port. My Spark does NOT have 2 USB ports. :(
b00duh 2
So, is it possible then to add an additional usb port? If so, I wonder if there is a part number for the additional usb port piece needed to utilize it...
Ray Dockrey 97
You would have to pull the radio and see if there is a spare USB port on the back and if it is usable. Then you could use something this if ti has a standard port or you would have to use an adapter if it is a mini or micro port. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PEPT0VQ/ref=twister_B00PEPT0SO?_encoding=UTF8&th=
b00duh 2
It has the mini-usb port on the back. I've circled it in the attached photo. I'm going to see if I could locate a chord and see what happens when I try plugging something back there.
Retired old Gearhead 201
I believe that is the port that connects to the USB on the console.
b00duh 2
On mine it isn't connected to anything and the usb port on my console works fine.
Ray Dockrey 97
Almost all GM modern higher end radios have that USB port in the back. What I don't know is if it can be used for USB or if it is just a programming port. It will be interesting to hear your results.
lcqvenyc 1
The 2017 Spark only has one USB source on the MyLink radio
JonBoy470 5
Very interesting. This head unit is popping up all over the Chevy line. The Trax, Sonic, lower trims of the Cruze. Some of these have a 2nd USB, at least optionally. Given the diversity of vehicle models and equipment this thing is working with, I can't imagine that LG is actually shipping these things to GM Korea with different, vehicle specific firmware. I imagine they have it set up to automatically detect the ancillary hardware, potentially via CAN BUS, and present the appropriate user-facing features on the display. Sounds like some units made it out of the gate before the firmware was patched to handle the case of a single installed USB.
