dulsaf2630 9
16s with 195/45 tires. No rub. As long as you are having the right offset. I am using H&R, i guess the drop is the same? Edited August 7, 2015 by dulsaf2630
Schaltz 27
Lowerd 40/40 and running 17x7.5 rims with 185/35-17.
TheDrip 25
b&g springs, 17x7 +38, 20/40R17 tires. Everything is working great with no rubbing, but the tires are down to 5/32. with brand new tires, maybe something really is that close.
psquare75 35
Tires used? Are you *that* close that the extra 1/16 of tread on a new tire will rub?
TheDrip 25
Its rubbing a little nub in the well liners up front on high speed bounces now. just wearing some plastic. Have to slow my roll from 85 to 75 going to work. As for the tires being used, I just wanted to be forthright in what the setup was, I don't know how close I would be cutting it with brand new tires. I did the drop with the used tires in case there were issues. Tear up old tires, not brand new ones.
robertlane 18
b&g springs, 17x7 +38, 20/40R17 tires. Everything is working great with no rubbing, but the tires are down to 5/32. with brand new tires, maybe something really is that close. Very cool looking. Anyone else have photos? Abdullah Hj Kasim 3
H&R springs, 17 inches with 205/40R17 tires. Will rub on the front if you go too fast over speed bumps or uneven road. Edited January 15, 2016 by Abdullah Hj Kasim
Retired old Gearhead 201
Wheels are nice. 40R profile will give you a rough ride and bearings fail shortly after...lowered and 17" looks kinda silly on a small car...rubbing means first pothole is gonna be $$$. TheDrip 25
Over 1k miles on city streets and in-city highways now. Plenty of pot holes and construction. There are definitely jars at times, but no $$$ problems yet. The car's light weight helps a lot when it comes to pothole strikes. I don't think anyone lowers a car and steps up on wheel size while expecting a smoother ride as an end result. As far as looking silly, these cars look 'silly' to the vast majority of the population anyway. I'm sure everyone on this site has been the butt of jokes like "do you take that inside with you?" "wheres the rest?" "where does the carry handle go?" and such. Maybe someone thinks your hair looks silly, but you chose it and you like it. Retired old Gearhead
Retired old Gearhead 201
Ya, you make a valid point..your car and you choose what to do..always have respect for someone who is willing to take on a DIY and do it correctly. Just because I am not a fan of lowering a car, it is always nice to see someone take on a project and do it well...you get my drift...
2013superspark 0
anyone installed coilovers on this car? i see there available to buy like bc coilovers but havent seen many threads on it. just curious ..
TheDrip 25
And another update on my car. 3k miles into driving it lowered, and the front no longer rubs. The little plastic nub has worn away enough that it never touches the tire anymore. I also just changed tires, still a 205/40R17 Hercules. I went from the Raptis WR1 to the newly released Raptis R-T5. The new tire leans more towards a high performance touring tire than a strict performance tire. The upside is the shoulder is more rounded, and I no longer have a rub in the rear end either! So lowered with B&G springs on 205/40R17 on 17x7 +38 wheels, and no rubbing at all. It is possible after all.
