April 2015 Spark Sales: Down

One thing that I do on my website is track subcompact car sales, so I thought I'd share last month's data on the Spark.

Spark sales were down 3.4% vs. April 2014. A total of 3,743 Sparks were sold. Year to date sales are down 4.2% with a total of 12,847 Sparks sold.

The good news is Spark is still selling really well. It's outselling the Mitsubishi Mirage, Smart ForTwo, and Fiat 500, as well.

I don't believe the early preview of the '16 Spark has helped. I know if I was in the market, I would be on hold, knowing if I didn't like it, there would be plenty of '15's on the lot. Most people want the latest and greatest, and you can't blame them, especially if the price is close.

Good point. And by the way, there are still some '14s left on the market! (I keep an eye on one in Washington that is still coming down in price, but is already $4,000+ off MSRP!)

Well it all boils down to gas prices, when gas prices drop SUV and truck sales go up while Small cars and hybrids go down... Its always been that way...
