psquare75 35
To have one of these!!! Fiance was going to work and was involved in a multi car collision. She's ok, just sore. Still runs... sort of. mounts broke on the engine.. clutch pedal is dead, hvac controls won't turn even. So many air bags in this thing feels like you're sitting inside of a tent. Hooray gap insurance.
21783mike 17
Wowzers... glad she is ok. mind posting some pics of the interior, I'm curious where all the panels go when the airbags pop...
Lil Dew 14
Glad, she is doing fine after the accident. As for the car, it will buff right out.
stevesparky 20
Real sorry to hear that. Hope it all works out. So how many of the air bags deployed? Any chance its a Total? Edited January 9, 2014 by stevesparky
NoSprak 17
Glad she is okay, that's the important thing! Unfortunately, it'll be totaled. Airbags are just too expensive and if more than one or two popped, that's going to be at least $5k to replace them. Looks like the radiator and A/C condensor have been damaged and if it ripped the engine/trans off of a mount or broke it, there's going to be "frame" damage.
Jeph Randolph Swift 1
These cars total quite easily.... But are really safe. Are you going to get another spark? If any thing happened to Blue Bullet, I wouldn't get another Spark because I know I would never love it as much as I loved the original...
WaltK 305
Damned shame, fortunately the driver is unhurt, it seems the cabin stood up well, although the nose looks like it was hit by a train.
austex04 48
At least everyone is OK. Note the Spark is the only mini car to earn top safety pick by IIHS. Now you can replace with a '14.
psquare75 35
I'll post more pics later. Let's see. Chrissy my fiance' is ok. Just the usual airbag/seatbelt soreness. All the airbags went off, sides, knee, wheel. Pass side didn't because no one was in that seat. Airbags come out along the side of the headliner.. the head liner pops down / tears out of the way. She crashed @ ~ 40 MPH but was 'nose down' since she was hitting the brakes.. the Spark was under the other car's bumper. Passenger compartment: other than bags, you couldn't even tell there was a crash. Seats didn't break their mounts.. Doors open fine. Seat Belts are locked upEngine dropped down. It runs.. sort of. I think the crank pulley is aganst the subframe. The engine sits at a 30 degree angle in the engine bay. oops. Clutch pedal is 'free', it doesn't do anything.. Even the A/C controls are frozen. I can't turn them. I already took out everything I put into the car (like $900 worth of stuff, yikes). All I'm 'losing' is the stripes, the clear door edge tape, and the Pac Man decal in the back window. I'm fairly confident the car is totaled. Getting another? Yeah. Found the green one I wanted all along, a leftover 1LT 5spd.. already on its way from New Jersey. Fiance' feels really safe in the car and liked the Spark. No more Pac Man though :(. Greg_E 211
Nope, now you will need a Slimer decal. Glad she is OK. And I hope they do total it for you, it would suck to fix it.
malibuguy 14
Glad she is ok. Cars are designed to be throw aways now days. Absorb and disperse energy around the occupants. Looks very similar to when my buddy tagged a rav4 with is ae101 corolla. Peeled the hood right back.
psquare75 35
Actually, I think she wants a Luigi theme (Super Mario Bros.) 10 years ago I might have fixed it, as bad as it LOOKS I could do it over time, I just don't have the time anymore these days. Oh well..
bluer101 241
Glad she is ok. They will total that. I used to be in the body shop business.
Sparktacular 0
Glad everyone's alright. That picture actually makes me feel even safer in my Spark - look how intact the cabin is! If she gets green you should get a matching red one so you can have Luigi and Mario. :p
Smikster 10
I need the seats for my 72 datsun
psquare75 35
Ehhhhhhhhhh I'll stick with my E36. Bluer, yeah, I agree. I've done the fix-a-total-and-make-some-money deal with a Chevy Cavalier about 10 years ago, but time isn't what it once was.
Greg_E 211
I wouldn't fix it, but I might part it out to make some money. Plenty of good used parts on there if you have the time to remove them and sell them.
Trancer07 30
Ooooh boy. It looks like it went right up a Suburban's ass by the way the hood is pushed back and everything in front is smashed down. Glad to hear your fiance is ok, psquare. Greg_E 211
Until you get in one of these situations, it's hard to understand just how close to the ground that nose will dive. I was convinced it would go under the deer's belly and the deer would come through the windshield, not sure how it managed to stay within the bumper.
tootal2 3
the passenger compartment looks like it had no damage. so it did good in the crash Edited January 15, 2014 by tootal2
Sparktacular 0
I saw another Spark today! It was driving right behind me! I was so excited.. until the thing passed me and I saw it had been the victim of a terrible rear end accident. The whole back end was creamed and conclaves. I was surprised again, just like psquare's, by how intact the car was.
NoSprak 17
IIHS top safety pick for a reason ...
Hobo1 8
I wouldn't fix it, but I might part it out to make some money. Plenty of good used parts on there if you have the time to remove them and sell them. I already have my eyes on a few things ahah. Glad to hear she is ok!
Shane Duus 6
I need the little plastic grommet that goes in the door around the lock peg...mine popped out and I lost it
tootal2 3
I saw a spark that was rear ended and they were still driving it around. I have almost been rear ended a few times. When I brake I keep one eye on the rearview mirror just incase. I have run red lights to avoid being hit. I don't know why suv and minivans have to get so close to my spark.
