I have avid.1 av-18's, in 15x8.

I currently have the stock 185/55r15 tires on the wheels.

I was wondering if a 195/45r15 tire will fit on the car without rubbing?

Any information is appreciated.

Thank you.

Absolutely!..you will have no clearance issues..I have gone 205/50/r15 without issues and I know of others who have gone 195/55or50/15 without issues.

Hi Everyone,  I have a stock 2017 Spark and I would like to get some aftermarket wheels and tires.  What is the largest I can go without and rubbing, issues or mods?  I am looking at a Ruff 364 15X7 with a 40 Offset and 195/45R15.  Any thoughts would help

I will be attempting to mount 215/45/17 tires on the rear of my vehicle. I'll give an update when done. As for the front, pretty sure 205/40/17 is the max without real modification. I have not lowered my car, looks like its going to be close. I have a 2017 Spark LT

Update, 215/45/17  tires do fit the rear of the vehicle nicely and lessen the overall gap. The rims are 17x7.5 with 40mm offset.

Careful going that large of a tire. When your speed says 60 you're actually going 64-65mph with the 215 and you're 2mph faster with the 205 tires. I'd definitely do coilovers to lower it. I'm pretty confident you're going to rub with the 215 in the rear.

No issues with the rear at all , lower strut cups in the front prevent this size though, as well as plastic rust / debris inserts in the rear of the front wells. It would take some pretty heavy modification to get this size in the front. If I happen to find a solution for the front, I will repost. Car really handles like a go cart right now but, it would be awesome to fit this size all the way around.

I would give that rusty drum a shot of black or even red paint since it is so easy to see through the spokes.

Just bought the red caliper paint. I'll take a pic of the rear shock clearance. There is actually a decent amount of space between the shock and the tire. I was taking measurements on the exhaust and looking at options. I will post measurements for different parts of the car in another topic as well for others that are looking for modifications.

Update. Here is a pic for the clearance of the 215/45/17 tires on the rear. I also think I figured out a way to run the same size tires on the front. If I get a cheap set of lowering coilovers for the front ( Miata  for $40 ), I can cut the spring perch / cup in and get the space needed. I may have to heat gun the wheel well covers and push them back slightly as well. I definitely plan on doing this and seeing if all goes well. I also included a pic of the front so you all can picture it better. Currently still have the 205/40/17 tires in the front.

Woot woot!!!  Nailed it! Tried to pick a car that is light weight like the spark in hopes that the spring rate will not make the car bounce like a jalope and take little modification to throw on the front struts. Working on two mods right now so, the next update for the reduction / modification of the front spring perch might be a bit. Hoping , I can successfully get the 215/45/17 tires to fit all the way around the car.Screenshot_2019-05-06-23-14-34-834_com.ebay.mobile.png

Here are my results with my wheels and tire combo on my 2019 Chevy spark LT Manual

the original tire size was 185/55/15 and the original wheels were 15x6

the wheels I went with are 16x6.5 and tire size is a 185/55/16 and so far they only rub when backing up with wheels cut all the way

There is already a picture of a titanium  '16+ with black heliums but here's my wife's car.

Handles like a kart. It won't brake traction at all off the line with dry pavement and on wet the light might flash once. Turn in is amazing, grip is really good in comparison. Nothing like a set of 200TWs though. Tire hum is gone but these tires are still not perfectly quiet. I need to find some puddles to test hydroplane resistance.

Oh and a few notes:

Stock lug nuts fit, don't let the tire shop tell you special lug nuts are needed.

73.1 to 56.6mm centering rings needed.

The little bit of extra offset is not a problem but hard turns near lock will give some resistance in the steering wheel.

Next mods will be rubberized undercoating in the wheel wells and sound deadening on the hatch and in the spare tire area. Maybe the doors too but I am starting there.

Just got my front tires replaced and went from a 205/40/17 to a size  215/40/17. Overall height is almost the same but much wider. I am going to try to put these on with a spacer in the front and see how it goes. I removed my modified front struts until I get a better spring for the coil-over. This will be with stock struts and springs. Here are a few pics before mount them.

Just wanted to follow up and let you all know that the 215/40/16 fit, but rub the wheel well plastic a bit when turning. I will most likely modify or cut the plastic. Seems like it just barely touches it on the rear side when the wheel is turned. They clear the inside by the strut by 1/3 inch and the strut cup on top by about 1/2" .  I'll post pics soon.
