Rocketone 3
So after 1000 miles I finally put Mobil One Synthetic in our little "Green Goblin". I know how the car is supposed to go 6000 miles or so, but I like to change the oil early on new vehicles after the break in period. My next step is a K&N air filter and then the car will be good to go!!! Hopefully I'll see a little increase in MPG, but I know engine longevity will be worth it.
bluer101 241
It's all personal preference. I still have not changed my oil and at 3500 miles. I'm going by the oil life meter and onstar update emails. Just got another one today and it states no required maintenance required at this time.
Rocketone 3
I'll be going on that for the rest of the cars life. I just wanted to get synthetic in there as soon as I could. I've always ran synthetic in all my cars and have not had any mechanical problems and even better MPG.
WaltK 305
I don't think the oil monitor can differentiate between synthetic, or regular oil, in which case, if you stick with synthetic, you'll be getting unnecessary early oil change notifications. Here's an interesting read, http://www.edmunds.com/car-care/stop-changing-your-oil.html . I am just going to follow the monitor, and use the dexos 1 5-20w.
Greg_E 211
At the 7000+ mile change interval, I'm not too worried. That said the GM oil is a synthetic blend already, so it is probably decent oil.
Lazerface 24
about to change to Mobile1 myself only reason I didnt yet was because the 1st oil change was free from dealer
