southsidexz 6
Hello, Has anyone installed Keyless Entry on a LS Spark Model? or installed Power Door Locks? I have been going around town getting quotes from different Places. This is what I have (The locations are in Northern Illinois around the Waukegan/Gurnee area) Best Buy - The guy at best buy told me it would cost 20 bucks to check if the Spark has the electric or standard configuration for door locks. (His thought was if its electrical "meaning works with wires sending the signal" they won't be able to do it". If it is not electrical then it would cost 100 per each door + any modules or extra things required. Basically 100 x 4 = 400 + 20 (for checking) = 420 + xxx <- For any extra things. AudioSmith - Alarm keyless + power door locks 4 Doors = $600 Chevrolet Dealershp (Ray Chevrolet) - Costs around 600-700 "NON-FACTORY", They don't install the factory power door locks. They get a 3rd party install and then install it. However, you void the Warranty. Which is a big bummer because you either risk it and void the warranty or stay without powerdoor locks and keep the warranty until it expires. I wonder if there is a way to find the parts (from an LT model) that are needed to get the power door locks on the LS model.
Trancer07 30
I'd definitely suggest not doing the power door locks until the warranty is expired. southsidexz
Greg_E 211
Why would adding power locks void any warranty? That's got to be garbage to try and push you away from doing it. That would be the same as saying if you put non-stock tires on your car you void the warranty.
southsidexz 6
I'd definitely suggest not doing the power door locks until the warranty is expired. I was thinking so too, but now I wonder if by changing the Stock Speakers to Kickers and adding the Kicker Hideaway to the car it already voided the warranty. I don't understand how by adding Power Door Locks it would void the warranty when it is being installed at the Dealership by their 3rd Party vendor. Why would adding power locks void any warranty? That's got to be garbage to try and push you away from doing it. That would be the same as saying if you put non-stock tires on your car you void the warranty. Yup, I agree with Greg. Its ridiculous and garbage how they are against it. I might have to send an e-mail to Chevrolet directly and see what they have to say.

Ashes Laree Scott 0
I don't know about the warranty thing, but I'm going to get some quotes from places around town that may do this. I don't think it would void the warranty but you never know these days. Anyone else got any price quotes on this? I just wish the option was there for me to purchase this on my LS. I didn't want all the other extras, just power locks. *sigh*
Lovgun7 75
its gonna run in the $300s and up ... parts and installation.
icepick 9
A relay, door actuator, for each door you want to control, and some basic tools, and it could be tied into the factory rear hatch unlock. Most places I have been around charge around $100 per door, not counting parts (not that I'd ever pay for that). Just about all places will try to upswell you on an aftermarket keyless system, which will still need actuators on each door you want control of anyways. Hell, they will probably not even want to do anything without an aftermarket system.
tommyspark 24
I sure hope that installing power door locks on ANY vehicle in America will void warranty. If this is true; that's just sad to say the least
Lovgun7 75
I sure hope that installing power door locks on ANY vehicle in America will void warranty. If this is true; that's just sad to say the least the idiot at the dealer (my 1st trip) that tried selling me a yellow spark told me that i could add after market power locks... no if he's telling me that and it voids the warranty he would be responsible
Stefan de Wet 0
Hi guys, adding "aftermarket" power door locks will not void your warranty but listen carefully. If you add power door lock system to your vehicle and the original wiring loom is cut into or modified to accommodate your aftermarket power door lock system and say for instance in 2 years time after you fitted your power lock system, all of a sudden the electronic window stopped working due to a open circuit in the wiring loom in the door, and the open circuit has nothing to do with your door lock system but just because the loom is modified or tampered with, GM will not replace/repair the loom under warranty because its not standard any more. The is a very fine line in this sort of situations. And you can fit other speakers to your vehicle, just make sure that your new speaker is of the same load to the radio as your standard speakers. Then, if your Radio fails for some reason like your screen or buttons or CD player, its very unlikely that Warranty will void the Claim because you have other speakers fitted to the radio which has nothing to do with the screen, but say the Radio internal Amp driver fails, then Warranty may decline a claim due to the speakers because the speakers could have cause the Amp driver to fail. Hopefully you understand my explanation. Enjoy.
Greg_E 211
That's one reason why I like to keep all the stock parts, I can swap them back in if there is an issue.
icepick 9
The warranty can not be void unless the dealership can prove that the aftermarket item is the cause of what ever the problem that may develope is directly related to the install of the aftermarket item. baby tires 1
I installed a universal 4 door lock kit (from Ebay $35.00) it took me about 3 1/2 hours to install included 2 remotes only tampering with factory wiring was adding a aux fuse under hood to supply power. Have been using for several months and very happy with performance of locks. only thing to note is the kit does not activate the rear hatch.

bensemailis 10
You will have to tear the doors apart and figure it out. GM parts dont come with install manuals because they are replacement parts, not add on's. If you want to treat them as add ons, you will have to figure out the install. Sorry.
