  1. just a quick update, my spark had 2 valves replaced the first time around (took over a month) got it back from GM drove it for 4 days and found it was now using oil at about a quart every 200 miles. sent it back to the dealer waited ANOTHER MONTH, got it back. while the car was at the dealer my back bumper was damaged and the paint does not match. Now my motor has a unusual rattle. Car started having problems at 38000 miles 2 and 1/2 months to fix It now my back bumpers paint does not match and there seems to be my a rattle in my "new motor" thanks GM!!! at least it is not using oil yet looks
  2. Update my Spark was found to have a cracked valve also. 37000 miles on the odometer, 7 months old. Has been at the dealer 11 days waiting on parts. Dealer has been great but driving the loaner car (2014 Impala) is reminding me of why I prefer small cars. I am used to 43mpg, so 22 mpg is costing me an extra $20-$25 a day. next week i think it is time to talk with GM about a better resolution. the extra $400-$500 amonth in fuel and the depreciation on there loaner makes no sense to me.
  3. my Spark just did this, traction control light on service engine light flashing. if you take your foot off the gas in gear for a few seconds (above 1500 rpm) service engine light stays on solid. also it has a stored PO304 code, I swapped the coil and plug with another cylinder and the problem stayed the same. if you diconnect any other cyl. motor runs worse, no change disconnecting #4 coil, I am expecting to find I have a bad fuel injector in #4, so to the dealer it goes.
  4. It seems to me the oil change code on these cars are based ONLY on mileage (just under 7500 miles) temps from 100 degrees to -20 degrees, no difference. 100% high speed running or 80% low speed city, no difference. heavy loaded towing trailers or light load no difference. currently at 36,000 miles (6 months) no problems with car at all. I do all my own repairs etc... found a local distributer that sells me case qty. of oil filters for under $5.00 a filter. My Malibu 2007 with 300,000 miles so far, shows dramatic changes in oil life with the varied weather and duty between 4500miles and 14,000
  5. With small light weight cars you will notice changes more. try running the car in first gear to say 3000 rpm, look at the speed, then try 2nd gear at the same speed. notice what rpm you are at. like they say match your engine speed to your rpm for the gear you are going into.
  6. I run mine at the max pressure printed on the side wall, 36,000 miles and the are wearing even across the face, by increasing pressure I gained about 4 mpg. We have found higher pressure also seems to increase tire life also, currently tires look like I have 60-65% of tread left.
  7. I think the reason for no spare in the USA is the TPMS systems required for all cars 2008+. Glad we live in the former land of the free.
  8. 34,000 miles on my LS manual Spark so far mileage seems to be 43mpg over all .........80 mph = 32-34mpg 75 mph = 37-38mpg 70 mph = 40-42mpg 65 mph = 44-45mpg
  9. I installed a hitch on my LS manual Spark the day after I bought it. Dealer has never even mentioned it car is now 7 months old with 34,000 miles and no problems at all. Generally I tow a 4' x8' fold up trailer with either my atv or rider mower about 100 miles to cabin. pulls down the road fine at 65mph, and still gets 32-36 mpg. normal driving without the trailer I get 45-46 doing the same
  10. I installed a universal 4 door lock kit (from Ebay $35.00) it took me about 3 1/2 hours to install included 2 remotes only tampering with factory wiring was adding a aux fuse under hood to supply power. Have been using for several months and very happy with performance of locks. only thing to note is the kit does not activate the rear hatch.
  11. Buy used ones from Chev Aveo. Also note a regular "fullsize" Aveo tire fits in the well with the jack and wrench from the same.
  12. buy used Aveo rims and tires same offset, same bolt pattern. and you can choose between steel or aluminum, center caps also say Chevrolet. Got a set of 185/65/15 aluminums with good tires and center caps for winter tires and spare. paid $65 for the set of for tires plus jack and wrench, from Craigs list.
  13. I paid 11,600 for my LS manual, told the dealer I could get them 350 miles away for 11,300 and my time was worth another three hundred, he agreed. Has been trouble free for the first 25,000 miles (4 months). It is my work car. wanted power locks which I bought on eBay for $35.00, no regrets.
