The sides were done by masking off the indented area then spraying. I just followed the contours with the tape, sprayed, and peeled the tape off after a quick third coat.

Paul, yours was the first dipped car I had seen, thanks for the ideas. For the stripes I put three quick coats on waiting about five minutes between (or when it started to look dry) then immediately peeled the tape after the third coat.
