I ordered this sensor this morning. I was hoping for a 2 bar option but this is OEM and looks like a direct fit, not to mention the price was right. I ended up splurging a bit on delivery but there is a live tuning session on goat rope garage on Thursday so if I have questions I can ask then. Otherwise, I can send tunes in via email and I will be scheduling another session for October.

Here is a snapshot from yesterday's log. I hit just over 4 psi at around 4,500 rpm. My torque table was limiting me as the engine was creating more torque than the stock table was requesting (go figure :/). So I adjusted my fueling to account for the additional air and added 10 percent to the higher end of my torque tables. Hopefully, I see higher rpms tomorrow (I was limited to around 4,500) and higher boost.

During the tuning session today it was confirmed my wastegate was likely leaking. This was an issue because I had to clock the turbo to fit in my car and when I did, the internal wastegate mounting bracket on the turbo no longer lined up. I finally made a bracket to securely mount the wastegate. Hopefully tomorrow I will see higher boost

I just finished my first one hour session. Super informative. You can log above 1 bar with a 2 or 3 bar map sensor and the operating system can be adjusted no problem. I think 1 bar should read a little bit into low boost. I need to work on my wastegate a bit to build any significant boost. Currently, just barely registering boost but I know what the issue is.

I'm going to ask about this during my tuning session. The sonic and cruze have the same ecu and turbo so I think I may be misinformed on what is possible. Maybe the stock setup is sufficient or I can add the MAP sensor you mention. To be continued.

I got a kick out of this encounter while I was data logging today.

While reading the HP tuners forum I came across a reference to a YouTube channel, Goat Rope Garage. I've watched a few videos that have been incredibly helpful and relevant for the 2014 Chevy spark ecu.

Today, the host of the show announced an option for an hour session of one on one tuning for $75. I signed up today. You also get access to videos and can send files to have him review and provide feedback on throughout the month.  Another great deal is $15 a month, you don't get the 1 on 1 hour session but you can watch the videos and send in your files as well.

He also has a bunch of free content that has been really helpful.

Anyways, I'm hoping to learn a ton.

I have a 2015 standard trans, im working on setting it up for local NARA amarica stage rally. Hopfully to enter 2020 season. what im super interested in at the moment is if there is a way to change redline perimeters as to not fuel or ignition cut when redline is reached. And maybe launch control. The only mods i plan are maybe larger sonic or cruze throttle body retrofit, intake, headers for cat delete/relocation possibly exhaust aside from the load of safty equipment i.e. roll cage, seats, harness, fire suppression. So no turbo or anything like that. I have a feeling this motor has some untapped potential. I rev to 6 grand all the time motor is still running like a champ. Plan to check compression soon to see where i sit after 75k but 60k is probobly highway miles so 10% it highway speed wair my block probobly has 20k hard miles. But when i rev to 6500 and hit that fuel or ignition cut whatever it is i feel like the motor is hitting a second wind. Peak hp numbers at at 6400 rpm what does that say? Its still pulling at red line and wants to go. I mean thats my no knowledge of tuning un educated guess lol but thats how hondas take advatage of vtec by bouncing limiter an that is still pulling at redline.

I finally fixed the last oil leak this morning. I kept thinking the issue was where the hose met the fitting but all I had to do was tighten the fitting on the other end a bit. A bit hard to reach with a wrench so I'm assuming that was a contibuting factor. Super happy it was an easy fix and I was just lazy and not really tackling the issue until now.

I will keep you in the loop. I will know soon if that adapter will work out. I am starting the project this weekend to make the room for things. I'll check to see if the adapter will work and note any modifications that need to be made if necessary.

I removed the previous post as it was inaccurate information. I have found some good info for anyone interested in tuning their spark with HP tuners. Our car has variable valve timing that can be adjusted. http://www.superchevy.com/how-to/engines-drivetrain/1808-advantages-of-vvt-cam-in-gen-iv-v-engine

I'm going to experiment with this once I get it running but it looks like Chevy left some meat on the bone in the name of fuel economy. I'm looking for power

You do have the 1.2 liter model so maybe the 1.4l throttle body would also be a closer upgrade. The other Chevy models have a different connector unfortunately because the 1.5l would have also been an option. I'll try to get updates on the throttle body by tonight. Ran into a ton of snags in the rear suapension project today.

Throttle body came in. Its much larger than I expected. I will give it a try though. Looking at fabbing it this weekend.

Down pipe section of the exhaust...incomplete as I myself didn't need measurements yet after this point.

Good progress! Its great to see your still making headway. I'm still working with placement as there is very little room to fabricate a non-header attached turbo in the 2017.

Room was definitely an issue for me as well, I had to get an aftermarket radiator fan to create some space for my set up. True confession I removed the AC compressor and lines too. It's  not ideal for a daily but I don't regret it too much. Windows down and turbo spool works for me

Right now, I need to address a small oil leak where I tried the turbo oil feed in. I like the oil filter adapter you ordered so I might have to explore that or another T fitting. Once that's addressed I will be back to daily driving, logging, and tuning. Best of luck on your project, I'm excited to watch your progress!

I finally ran the wideband wire and boost gauge vacuum line through the firewall. I like the placement of the gauges and do not miss the loose wires.

I installed a T-fitting in the intake manifold (white plastic T in picture) to hook up as my vacuum line for the blow off valve and my boost gauge so I know what the pressure is in the intake manifold. Unfortunately, this manifold absolute pressure sensor is not set up to read above atmospheric pressure and the ecu (e78) does not appear able to monitor above 1 bar (atmospheric pressure) This is not an end all issue but it does make tuning for boost a bit of a challenge (especially for a newbie like me)

On a positive note, I hooked my boost gauge up and confirmed I am making boost. I'll post a video showing the guage while I drive but on the way home I think it was around 5psi. This was at 4,000 rpm or below and there are some areas where I may be leaking boost so that number should go up.  Happy Friday!

Day 2 of driving the turbo spark to work. I put in a new tune and filled up on e85 before heading out. Still seeing backfires at about 4200 rpm but it is getting better. I had a video but removed due to error on my end. Better videos to come.

I wouldn't call it a daily driver quite yet but I drove it 15 miles to work this morning. A fairly uneventful drive. I have upgraded the spring in the blow off valve to hold boost higher. At this point, I'm planning on scheduling a dyno tuning session once my bonus comes through. Fingers crossed. Stay tuned!

This is one of the few builds I've followed on a forum (and YouTube) where the person actually follows through with the plan. I'm very glad you've made it this far. Makes me happy knowing I'm not the only one messing around with these lol.
