  1. I only put on about 4K a year so I do yearly changes. I've noticed that even with many short trips and daily town driving the oil stays clean looking and stays at the full level on the dip stick. My trucks oil turned dark brown and was down about a quart in the same situation even when it was new. It may not make a lot of power but I believe this Spark engine is a well designed unit. If an engine burns the fuel efficiently (41mpg for me) it doesn't contaminate the oil with many impurities, simple as that.

  2. Glad It's not just my imagination Ray. When I first got my Spark after driving a pickup for years I noticed larger vehicles passing just to be in front so I have to tail them, not because I was driving slow. Whipping out from a stop in front of me instead of waiting a second for me to pass by so I end up having to slow way down until they gain speed. Changing lanes into mine with little regard whether I'm already occupying that space or not. Pure bullying and disrespect. I think the Spark must be the Rodney Dangerfield of the car world.

  3. None so far with my 2017. Mostly used in stop/go town driving so a lot of clutching and shifting. 41 MPG.

I've always given the door hinge pins/bushings on my vehicles a shot of lube a couple times a year to keep them from squeaking/wearing. 70's cars were famous for getting saggy doors that you would have to lift up to latch because the hinge pins/bushings would wear if you didn't keep them lubed and it would throw those long heavy doors out of alignment.

Just bought the red caliper paint. I'll take a pic of the rear shock clearance. There is actually a decent amount of space between the shock and the tire. I was taking measurements on the exhaust and looking at options. I will post measurements for different parts of the car in another topic as well for others that are looking for modifications.

Looks much better with that red paint. :2thumbs:

  5. I think a performance chip would unleash the beast of this over restrained all aluminum dohc 16v engine without sacrificing many MPG's but I don't think anything is available yet. Intake and exhaust mods would just be expensive noisemakers without a chip (not that there is anything wrong with making it louder if that's your thing).

  6. I think that advice is for a stored vehicle. If you drive it at least once every couple of weeks the alternator should keep the battery charged. Sadly, heat does take its toll on battery life but there isn't much you can do to stop that in a hot state except keep it in an air conditioned garage which isn't a realistic solution for most folks.
