Im so glad your spark is doing well at 100k. Im so glad I traded in my 13 spark for A new 2017. 1Lt manual.  27000 down and not the first problem . Factory tires still look new . it still feels like getting in a new car every day.

So it's official, I'm over 100,000 miles and no major mechanical issue.  Just normal wear and tear stuff.

The first thing is I don't go to the dealer unless I have to.  I have a mechanic I have gone to for about 15 years now, he keeps an eye on everything and lets me know what's going on.  The only thing not right with the car is the drivers side lower seat cushion is flat, I had to put a cushion on the seat to make it feel better again.  Factory brakes front and rear are still good, Jay (my mechanic) said I will probably need to replace the fronts in 15-20k mi more......The stock tires were even good to me, I got 64,000 miles out of them.

Just came back from another road trip from Massachusetts to LA to Phoenix to Branson, MO to Buffalo, NY and back home.  Averaged more than the posted speed limits but with heavy cruise control use, after the latest update for the tcm, I was averaging 37.2 MPG.

Unofficially since it was a public road, foot to the floor in the Nevada Desert I was able to get to just under the 110 mark on the speedo and the car was surprisingly stable.  However sustained driving, if I use cruise about 70-75 I can usually still average about 36 MPG, if I cut it down to 65-70 I can get it up to 38 MPG easily.

This car will exceed any speed limit for an entire tank and just ask for another quick fill up. It's surprisingly stable at high speed. The low front air dam and well designed undercarriage really helps, I think. However, it takes a long time to accelerate above 60 so don't expect to be passing. Also your mileage suffers considerably. Sub 30mpg for sure. Maybe 250 mi per tank. If you're really road tripping in a hurry consider time lost for fuel stops.

Hell yea those ground effects are sweet. Same as with the chrome exhaust tip. I wish there was a worthwhile way to turbo this car.

This car is a blast! I'm new to the forum. So far, added ground effects and custom wheels and tires. Next, tinted windows and an 1 1/4" drop all around

Welcome to the Spark Forum! And I agree, Spark is indeed a blast considering the price to buy.

A couple of months back I took my Spark from Central MA, to Birmingham, then Houston, Phoenix, Las Vegas and back to MA without a single issue.

It needs a SS badge and a RS badge so the turbo badge won't be lonely and it adds horsepowah, maybe some red racing stripes to show it is really american and yellow fogs to represent the Korean roots,

tfraser3 reacted to Retired old Gearhead in 2013 Spark Stalling During Slow, Sharp Turns
When you make a sharp turn the gas moves to one side of the tank and the fuel pump is in the center of the tank, so it could be sucking air on the turns with less than 1/4 tank of gas. Try keeping the fuel at 1/2 or higher and see if that solves the problem. This normally does not happen, but a weak or partially blocked fuel pump or fuel line filter may contribute to this issue. I have had this happen on a previous car with a big V8 that had a high fuel demand and it would shudder or stall on sharp or long turns when the fuel was under 1/8 or less remaining in the tank...so try a full tank and see how low on fuel you can go before it shows up again. If it happens with a full tank, the it is most likely a fuel pump issue or a slight blockage in the fuel delivery system between the tank and injectors. That's my best guess.

I'm doing a one off  customization and replacing all the badging to that of the right hand drive cousin, the Holden Spark.

After 560km run with full of gravel road (~370-380). The new tyres saved me a lot, still had to take rest for 3 days since it hurt my back.

My last manual was a 1964 Corvair Monza (top end model). Living in greater Chicago for 37 years, I never bought another manual again, saving me 1 Billion gear shifts over 37 years.  As for a speedster, my 6cyl Camaro could squeal the tires if I wanted to. And that was with an automatic. That car saved my life when the light turned red and I was halfway into the intersection, so I began finishing my left turn, when I see a car coming straight at me at high speed in the opposite direction, obviously jumping the red light. Purely with reflex action I flicked the steering wheel to the right avoiding a horrible collision. The amazing quick & power steering on my Camaro did it's job, but my heart raced for a few minutes with the release of adrenaline.

Wise choice with the manual tranny Fraser! You avoided all the CVT issues..I test drove both the 2017 CVT and manual..Night and day. Also very surprized how quiet it is. Stiffer body and tons of features. I'm keeping the 2013 4sp. auto tranny now that I have well over 150Kmi on it with no issues. Recently I bought my brother a 2017 manual and he loves it..had to do it because he was looking at a used all wheel drive car..overpriced and all wheel drive is costly to have fixed if the all wheel drive goes bad. He's very stubborn, but after I took him for a drive to the dealer he loved all the features but didn't have the cash and since I don't like financing of any kind my wife nudged me into a cash purchase. He works in the Marina I sometimes use and works on boat repairs..so I guess he owes me some fixing..Ha..

I'm really happy with the Manual transmission. I drove the automatic lt as well but it felt very sluggish to me and kind of boring.  The Manual really allows you to work every ounce of power out of this little engine when you need to no questions asked .
