ANewSpark got a reaction from thismarks in 2016 Spark Upgrades
Well see, from the research the other Spark owner has done and from what little Ive found, stock internals should handle the power. The turbo i have my eye on is really small. Im only planning on making 130hp at 5-6psi.
We should continue this elsewhere, I don't want to hijack this thread.

The product is not on the Bad News Racing web page. You’ll have to send an email and contact them directly.
Still going strong ring with my Spark. It’s at 95k miles with no issues. Never did anything with the exhaust, put money into other projects for the Spark. I will be doing a little tune up here soon though.

ANeeSpark, do you have any additional info on BNR tuner for 2013 to 2015 spark? I am really interested but having a hard time finding the product. Thanks!

Correct! Myself and one other are the only BNR tuned Sparks as of right now. Jerry from BNR estimated over 100hp. My 93 tune is set to 80% maxed out on the injectors, give me a good amount of GO and MPG.
It's also a race between the two of us to turbo a Spark.

BNR can do 2013-2015 Sparks. I had mine done a few months ago and I love it. I have both a 87 tune and 93 tune. Dyno numbers to come. Will also be adding an AEM intake and second muffler delete while replacing the first muffler with a FM DBX series unit.

ANewSpark reacted to KillaX in 3D printing w/Spark & Speakers + Audio design help?
System is always being upgraded, though I'm slowly coming to the point of 'this is fine enough to make me happy'
Currently running JL Audio C2 5.25's in the front and 6.5's in the rear. Pretty happy with it so far, The speakers on a 400W 4-CH amp can get STUPID loud, which is good, because it means my volume level is far within their happy medium. Still running the 400W JL 10" sub in the rear. Pretty good sub, low profile, can hit hard enough to feel it on your hair a little, and any attempts at recording with my phone, results in bye-bye audio and hello fart-like sounds. I'm still planning this summer to ditch the dash speakers and resume my fiberglassing project, of adding door speakers. I also decided to get a shallow-mount 13" JL Sub, made my own box, and gona see where that takes me. I'm just trying to get the best out of the space, without taking up space.
personally. I rarely if ever have rear-seat passengers. I have days wher I really consider ripping the back seats 100% out, then adding flooring, and making it a 'large cargo space' as I do a lot of travel, or just need the space for large RC aircrafts. But I've yet to go to that extreme, as I'd be too tempted to shove in dual subs and go crazy. So. I keep things as-is and just run shallow sub.

The ECU will keep the power as close to stock as possible no matter what you do as far as bolt ons. These cars have TQ management system that retards the power at a certain point. Though typically the ECU won't retard timing and VVT. Once you hit the torque limit it will just slightly close the throttle and limits air/fuel into the motor.
A tune will open up the stock limitations and take full advantage of the better flowing engine.

Talk to Jerry at BNR for a real tune guys! He's the best in the biz.
Got my 2013 on a dyno finally, 95hp! I need to open up the exhaust, retune and get back on the dyno.
Got my AEM intake installed, feels better at higher RPMs.

Good tip.
I am familiar with the heliums because my other car is an NA miata. They are some of the lightest low budget 15's and 6.5" is all you need for a spark. The spark is her DD (I drive when we are together and plan to autocross it regularly) so if she doesn't like them I would gladly put them on my car. It's a shame the center bore isn't smaller, I have an extra set of NA alloy 14's that weigh 11-12lb and I read 14's can fit the brakes.

ANewSpark reacted to Lil Dew in After market turbo?
It could be done. Get a GT1548 or a GT1241 for quick spool and around 120-150hp. Use a RRFPR for fueling, and set the timing back a few degrees. Turbocharging an NA engine is actually pretty easy. You just have to stay within the parameters of the stock ECU in this case. 5-6psi is about all the stock ECU can probably handle, fueling wise, even with the RRFPR. After that the stock injectors will probably get maxed out. The intercooler could be tricky on our cars because the intake area is high and rather small. There may be some room behind the fog light areas for a small intercooler. The hardest part is making the manifold and downpipe. You could cut the manifold pipes off at the flange, weld new pipes, and then weld on a T25 flange or better yet, a Vband. The downpipe is matter of fitment. Of course, our exhaust is probably 1.75 to 2 in, so it will be restrictive, but oh well. You could always do a custom 2.5 in exhaust to free up the system and help the turbo spool even faster.
I built a turbo set up for my Mazda Miata from scratch. I used a T3, 60, Megasquirt standalone, and I made 247hp w/ 197 lbs tq at the wheels. It was a blast to drive. My wife was happy when I sold it, but my son was not.

ANewSpark reacted to Retired old Gearhead in Exhaust
Really? Looks like a lot of parts and engineering went into this one..Are you sure you have enough clamps on there? I'm pretty sure the rubber hanger strip was not meant to wrap around the very hot pipe...but I guess you have discovered that after driving for a bit.

Wheel - Enkei RPF1 15x7 et41 needs spacer in the front to clear the caliper.
Tire - 185/55, will be switching to 195/50 soon
The RPF1 and stock tire weigh less that just the stock wheel.
