  1. I saw in the manual to engage parking break first on an incline then shift into park.

  2. We have about 9000 miles on it, and so far no flats. But we live on a gravel road that is 2 miles to asphalt. Getting average 39 mpg, and the only complaint is the transmission doesn't like to down shift, and puts you in a bind in traffic once in a while. Cure? Stomp on the gas like you are mad at it.
  3. Some time ago, I inquired about getting a spare tire, as I live on a gravel road, and don't trust a pump and bottle of goop to repair a tire. Someone on this forum suggested a donut spare from a 2004 Saturn Eon. (THANKS) It was a shot in the dark, but worth it to take the chance. Found what I was looking for on internet. $50 for the wheel/tire, and $25 shipping. Fed X'd and arrived in short order, and yesterday I removed a rear wheel, and fit the spare. Fit's like a glove. So then I removed all the foam packing under the hatchback, and the depression is just enough the tire fits flat, w
  4. What kind of jack do I need for a 2014 Spark? Scissors or bottle? Suggestions, or ideas? Smaller the better, is my idea.
  5. I just called the local Chevy dealer. The parts man looked it up, and quoted $645 for a new aluminum 15" rim. He didn't sound like he knew what he was talking about. More research now, as I'm not looking to break the bank, and from the above posts, know the 15" rim just won't fit my 2014 Spark.
  6. That sounds what I'm looking for. I just don't want to wait forever for OnStar to locate someone to service a flat. Prior experiences with Good Sam resulted in sending someone from 75 miles away. I can take care of the small items myself, but want something better than a compressor and bottle of goop.
  7. Thanks Angrybird; You hit the nail on the head. It's not shifting down to a lower gear. Hadn't thought of that, my thinking was that the carburetor (I know it doesn't have one) but in a sense the fuel was sloshing to one side, thus starving the intake fuel jets of fuel. Not shifting down makes much more sense. I haven't discussed this with the dealer, but need to tell him. I'm sure it's a blip in their computer planning that has not been addressed.
  8. We live on an Arkansas gravel road, which translated means in a good year, we "may" see a road grader twice. I had a flat at 400 miles, which turned out to be a sheet metal screw. (Cannot blame the roads for that one. ) I'm looking for something that is more comforting, and reassuring to me, than a compressor and a bottle of goop, which will ruin the inside of the tire, and require buying a new tire. Salesman suggested an Aveo wheel & tire, and bottle jack. I can see that working but you'd still have to get the original tire repaired and back on due to mis-match of tire sizes. Wonderin
  9. We live on a road that requires a more or less U turn to get onto the main highway. After making this turn, when stepping on the gas, the engine sputters and almost dies, like it's running out of gas. Most of the time there is oncoming traffic, so my only solution is kicking down hard on accelerator pedal, or get ran over. The engine will roar to life with this method, but it's just not right otherwise. Only about 2000 miles on it, and it's done this since brand new. Yes, I know this method is putting it in passing gear. Any suggestions appreciated.
  10. Still breaking in the 2014 Spark. Best so far was 39.66
  11. We live in mountainous country, so naturally there are very few flat, level places. Nevertheless, when I park, I depress the brake, shift to neutral, pull the hand brake, release the brake to ensure we are not rolling. Then shift to park. When trying to go from Park to drive, the shift lever feels "locked up". Pull the trigger, and literally have to yank the shift lever out of Park. Doesn't seem to make any difference where we are parked, same results. I read in the Owners Manual when this condition occurs, you "may have to push the car to get it to come out of park". This is the most
  12. We bought a new 2014 Spark on Labor Day. We also have a 2004 Ram 1500 4 wheel drive quad-cab, that averages 13.2 mpg. Definitely not economical on gas. I retired from the USAF in 72, with 20 years, so you can decide what my age is. Old enough to know better, still young enough to try something new, which is what we are doing with the Spark. So far, we have not been disappointed, other than a screw in LF tire at 400 miles. Surprised at the $12.90 to repair, till I see I was charged extra because of the pressure sensor, which doesn't make sense. But, we will accept it. Dropped by the dea
  13. I have not tried it, but on my 2004 Dodge 1500 Quad-cab 1500, if the rear windows are down more than just an inch or two, you get this "whump-whump" sound that sounds like someone slapping something against your ears. Hard to explain, so like the other postings, I found it's best to crack front windows, and leave rear windows closed. I think it's probably a common occurance.
  14. Just joined the forum. Bought a new 14 Spark earlier this week. Love it so far. I am concerned about "No Spare Tire". Where are the Aveo donuts available? This sure beats the 13 mpg on my 2004 Ram 1500 Quad Cab.
