Skids got a reaction from LittleBlue! in dash removal, anyone done this?
the body shop had to replace the dash after my accident.. took em 2 days.. so i'm guessing it's not the easiest. I did notice theres bolts inside the front speaker holes screwing it into the front windshiled area. ended up just using a dremel. you can fit 5.25" speakers with the tabs for screwing in cut off. I put clarions in, and you can fit 6.5" in the back screwing into only 2 of the stock holes. thats a much easier switch.

I would still get it checked out with the dealership but if it's full (where the line says it should be) when cold (check in the morning before driving) I wouldn't worry about it. Liquid expands when its hot (and it's been getting hotter) might have just noticed the little bit that over flowed (thats what the hose and all that stuff is for) topping it off puts way too much fluid in the resivor and as soon as you run the car it'll get hot and the fluid that is still in the engine will pump out making too much coolant and bunch will dump out of the extra over flow tank. This is normal and happens on every car. Also possible if you've had a oil change or something recently the service guy poured some in and spilled it on top never wiped it off

I have no clue if it is or isn't.. it would depend on the state for sure some are much stricter than others. I think you should be ok, It's reflective tape which every car has reflectors and they're all over school buses and semi trucks and every other thing so... you could always argue that.. in california you cant have lights (electronic) all over the car because it is distracting to other drivers (which this is too but) or blue lights anywhere on the car or red lights on the front, police emergency vehicle thing.. but I don't know, I looked up on line but no definitive answer.. I think until it becomes really popular and everyone does they wont bother making a law for it till it becomes an issue. They do make black reflective tape it doesnt "light up" as well as white or the brighter colors but it exists. You'll need about 8 rolls of it or 200' plus another 25' of the wider one to mask off the back black plastic if you want. I just finished this weekend, had to order more rolls

I spent a good several hours and about 170 feet of reflective pin stripe tape turning my spark into a "tron" car. Ever since my accident in this little guy I've been looking for ways to make it more visible and noticeable. Thought these "tron" cars looked pretty cool. It was fairly cheap to do it myself 3M tape off ebay, but I do need to order a few more rolls to finish, all in all after the extra rolls still under $100. pics are before and after in a dark as it can be during the day room with a flash on cell phone camera.

Jeeps along with the rest of the daimlerchrysler line up have had some horrible issues lately mostly with their trannys that they just cant seem to program them right.. and you're comparing apples to watermelons, for twice the price you should get more.. but best of luck hopefully they worked out all the issues

As another small update to this project, I put the 6" JLs in the rear, full-range.  I know in the car audio world, You will find a lotta people who say "Its all about front stage -- Shouldnt need rears at all unless its for back-seat passengers"  But everyone has a taste. I dont go for a "concert" feel. Where the sound is all coming from the front-stage of the stadium your in.  Being of younger generation, my taste is in EDM -- Rave scene, where sound commonly comes from all corners of the room. So in the car, things are fadered/delayed so the sound has a more open-room feel, and feels like its coming from all around you, not just infront. I like to balance it out so i hear the front/rears evenly, to give more 'depth' in my mind, as when I had fronts-only, i couldnt bare to listen to nothing coming out behind me, aside a subwoofer even tho my fronts were able to produce far enough volume.

That said, pretty happy with the setup so far. Running 50% volume is pretty much at the "too loud" level for me, stupidly loud with 5's and 6's in the car. Speakers have no issues running at 75% volume, even 100% volume, with zero distortion. But by then, volume levels are at the point where a second of silence, to a instrument hit, startles you. Way beyond my music-listening comfort zone. BUT its nice to know they can handle it, and still sound crazy clear.

Putting that all into considerations. I'm very undecided if I want to leave things as is or not.  Seeing I have 5" holes in the fronts now. Really temps me to save a little money monthly, and finish off the project for good, by putting in components, and because I want to assure I dont go "Oh ill upgrade these again!" after some months, I'd save up, and assure I do it the first time...Would either be the JL-Audio ZR525-CSi or the Morel-Hybrid 502s

Both JL and Morel seem to be known as really high quality, high grade products...But I know sometimes JL Prices are a bit steep for what you get. Though, I've seen $5,499.99 6.5" components at Morel. Have to really do my research, but the fact the JLs are more common and have hundreds of reviews, Vs just a couple on the Morels, kinda makes it more tempted to go towards them.  But its just a thought. Like said, the current setup does play clear/loud. But I know component setups can also do wounders and makes your ears re-learn what "clear" sounds like...

Ya Skids..Now that you explained it..I get your drift...Those kinda things can be a lasting issue...Your Spark was one that had no issues and I'm sorry you had to trade it for a reason like that. I also know how crazy things can get out your way and on the roads...so a little xtra money can buy some peace of mind.... Totally understand and more comfortable than wearing a vest and carrying 'stuff'. Happy trails with the new Trax and the Sonic as well...K?

Agreed, I don't know why you want to turn them off. Save bulb life? they'll probably last you about 4 years normally and are $20 to replace..? like I said before just got in a huge fender bender where a larger SUV didn't notice me at all and I guess didn't feel me either squished me up against the curb nothing I could do about it. After the $11k worth of body damage repairs I spent about $300 to make the car more visible with super bright lights (especially for during the day) and loud exhaust (loud pipes save lives). Still want to do more probably reflective tape on the roof rails or something. If it was a heavy duty truck or semi or anything I'd probably injured or worse.

yup what ray said.. and i know from experience.. if you want to keep the same sound levels not sure why you're adding an exhaust?? just keep it how it is. these small engines basically work opposite of everything you've ever done to improve power.. too much air for the intake =slower, too much free flowing exhaust =slower.. I put a flowmaster on mine after getting in an accident to make it louder and more noticeable. it made it slower, i did a resonator delete and it made it even slower but sounds bad ass especially for a tiny car.. at highway speeds you're ok but getting up there is killer. it does need the back pressure. I stuck a 2" to 1.5" pipe reducer in the exhaust outlet and it got back a ton of the off the line acceleration if not the fastest it ever was, but you could tell it was restricting at high speeds. switched to a 2" to 1.75" and get the best of both world but neither top good middle ground. if you want the same sound volume don't touch it. major lack of sound deadening material in the car so it gets up there in volume real quick. keep up informed how the tune goes. itll void the warranty but interested to know if its worth it.

From what has been said on here the Spark doesn't take too well to free flowing exhaust. It needs quite a bit of back pressure to keep it from falling flat on its face.

oh you fancy.. i used a dremmel and cut out the front holes and shoved 5.5" in the front with foam baffles and 6.5" in the back just lining up the exsisting holes. I had to drill a hole in the frame of the speaker to hit the existing hole but thats it. I'm running clairons front and back. i do have a powered sub, but the speakers stay clean up loud. we're so used to to the bass from subs (full size speakers) in others car home theaters etc that anything without will feel/sound inadequate. also the stock head unit is "tuned" for small speakers to not blow them so it will play games sound wise with any speakers you put. I've found on stock speakers if you turn the treble way up and others down it comes in cleanest with bass.. turning up the bass messes everything up.

got to drive an impreza with a cvt for a few days.. huuuuge difference to our cvt (im not saying power and all that good stuff wise obviously it hauls ass compared to our mini motors) it was smooth as silk and thoroughly boring i tried on multiple occasions to get some sort of beefy mode out of it, or over drive if you will, and nada.. ya no lurching, jumping, stalling, in fact a bit too much power from a stop (or maybe just used to flooring it in the spark) but naw no thanks.. i can actually make my cvt "shift" and feel it.. this was just a constant ------------------ eh no fun.. plus a boring ugly crappy sound system car too and the passenger seat is really uncomfortable on your knees .. anyway kinda related, kinda not.. just wanted to share if thats what a cvt is supposed to do im glad ours are so messed up!

I just wanted to let people know that there is now a English version of the files and walk through of the hack for getting mirrorlink and video in motion going. just google sourceforge mylink and that should take you to it. Instructions are under the wiki tab and files under the file tab. I suggest backing up your .bin file first, also I have v 24.1 and it seems to be working without a flash.

that being said my car is not "stock" .. things I've learned over time with the baby for best acceleration
run 87 (lowest octane) higher octane gives you slower off the line accl. but better on the freeway at speed.. i need to get on the freeway faster than already being on it
pull the resonator intake pipe.. ya it'll be annoyingly louder but its worth it and to me makes its funner, but any more added intake/air than this and it has adverse affects and is slower off the line .. its a small engine and to make the ratio even more air = more fuel and the little cylinders cant burn it all fast enough at low rpms and you get lag (im also running a k&n filter, not intake just stock replacement filter, helps a little off the line barely noticeable, the resonator pipe very noticeable)
performance exhaust or any free flowing exhaust will hurt, this little guy needs the back pressure from a restricted system. I put a flow master muffler, slower. removed the the resonator, way slower. screwed a reducing pipe (2"-1.75") into the tail pipe and got that acceleration back restricting the system. i did a 2"-1.5" and it made response off the line amazing but higher speeds hurt.
the car/tranny learns.. if you're always flooring it racing around it gets used to and drive accordingly, trying to get better mpg and baby it it will drive weird for awhile and be ready to zoom. and vise versa, babying it for high mpg, when you try to floor it it'll freak out and you'll get major lag like wtf i thought we were going slow..
running the a/c will hurt.. a lot.. I never do.. I like the fresh air.
    good luck guys.

lots of manufacturers make 4" (front) and 4"x6" (rear) speakers and basically theyll all fit. I'm running clarions cheaper that kickers and sound better in my opinion too. i fit 6.5" in the rear by just lining up holes and drilling an extra hole in the speaker surround frame and 5.25" in the front by cutting the holes bigger. take a little skill and some power tools but not much.
