decide to buy 2015 Spark, some questions
njresler replied to birdsong's topic in Chevy Spark 2007-2015 (Gen III)
Mine has handled the snow and winter road conditions in Indiana well. It doesn't do well with deep snow. I've been able to drive on 4" of unplowed snow well. But around 6" runs the risk of bottoming out. -
2LT speakers instant better sound trick
njresler replied to Skids's topic in Audio, Navigation, MyLink and Navigations
I've been reading these complaints and wandering what the issue is because I've felt my sparks 2lt speakers were fine. I checked my settings and I was at 0 bass and mid and 6 treble. -
The spark plug fixed mine.

Thanks. Still curious if anyone's IDC has had an alert to change the oil and at what % it comes on. I am afraid mine is either broken or or doesn't have one. I have 2013 2lt spark. My wife's 2011 traverse comes on at 15%
-
When will the IDC tell you to change the oil? I usually change it at 5k miles and it's still above 20% so I never had it come on. But I let it get down to 6% this time and still no warning.

High Mileage Owners with/without Issues?
njresler replied to Retired old Gearhead's topic in Fuel Mileage & M.P.G.
They say it's been fixed with the new one and I haven't had problems since. They say it must have been damaged prior to the recall but can't replace it till the cel comes on. -

The injector issue was diagnosed about six months ago when I started getting some other recalls done. I mentioned it had issues with stalling at take off from a stop. They ran some tests and said it was the injectors. The pcv was replaced about 6 months ago when the recall came out. Prior to there was minimal oil usage. Then oil usage started and the car started flashing lights and not shifting a few times then they said the spark plug in #4 was fouled. -

Built date 01/13 2LT 4spd auto. 27k miles. Not quite high miles. But I've only had for about 1 1/2 years. In that time I've had a few issues. All recalls done except hood latch bc dealer says they don't have parts. Then I had my injectors replaced. The rear sprayer didn't work right after I got it. That was fixed. Then after pcv recall oil consumption increased slightly and cel came on with traction control light and wouldn't shift. They (the dealer) found an issue with the number 4 plug and replaced it. So far no more issues. -

My oil issue has seemed to stop for now. It was never severe but I keep an eye on it. -

Angry bird. You are right in the median for that car. I do about te same most time. My city driving gets me better but my avg and highway are about the same as you. Interstate kills me unless I use better than 87 octane. Getting on and off the interstate and then driving around my neighborhood where there's a stop sign every few feet. If I get on a nice US highway and stay around 55-60mph I can get 50+mpg. -
So got my car back from the dealer. They said it was the #4 spark plug. They replaced it and that's it. I asked why and was the problem fixed not just repairing the symptom. They said that unless the check engine light was coming on at the time of the pcv recall they couldn't change the spark plug. So hopefully it was already fouled before the recall and now all is fixed. Idk. They were supposed to check it at the time of the recall at least that's what they told me when I took it in for the recall. They said all was fine. Also I have been burning more oil since the recall. So if the problem s

So I know that it is at least something to do with #4 cylinder (surprise) and something else. It is at the dealer for day two. We will see what happens.

Stalling at low speeds or stopped
njresler replied to CEPNC's topic in General powertrain discussion
It sounds like a power train issue and should be covered by the 100k mile warranty. I'd contact the dealer to see. -
So talked to dealer they are keeping the car another day. I don't know what a is wrong. I know that at least the #4 spark plug is being replaced.

Another thread of CEL, Traction Control

I have a 2013 2lt spark too. Mine has started doing this right about 26k miles. Although, I had a few issues early on I hoped where singular events. Such as driving and it suddenly started to slow down. That happens twice. Then at take off from a stop into a busy road it would suddenly lose power. But the later has been corrected by a service call for new injectors. I don't have all the information yet as my car is at the dealer since yesterday, but I do know they pulled some codes and are replacing some or all the spark plugs. I am also burning oil since my pcv recall. So maybe that's why -
Called the dealer. They were able to pull some codes. They didn't tell what ones. They haven't called back with any updates so I am just waiting. I will update when I know more.
-
I'm having this problem now and today is the first day to the dealer for the issue. Hopefully it will be fixed.
-
Second time in a week. For traction control light and cel light. This time before driving I immediately turned it off and restarted. All cleared. I have an appointment tomorrow. Hope they figure it out. This time the idle was rough. I've also been burning oil since the new pcv was installed. I thought that was supposed to fix issues. But for me it created done that didn't exist previously. My mpgs are done about 3 mpg too.

I am seeing the dealer Monday. Just worried because it seems to be using more oil than it used too. I have been checking the oil every day now and adding a few ounces as needed. I used to only need about 4 ounces over 5k miles. But now seems like every 1000 miles or so.
