  1. Hello everyone... I need to take a trip out of town for a few days, and I'd like to rent a Spark - does anyone know if it's available as a rental from any of the rental car companies? I'd also consider a Mirage, Yaris, or something similar. I figure I'll make up the cost of the rental after my first fill up since my van only gets about 20 mpg. Thank you, Southern Harmony
  2. So I've sent out queries to almost every dealership within a 60 mile radius of my home. The request is simple: "Hello, I'm interested in a base model Spark LS. This dealer has them on sale this month for $9999: http://www.airportchevy.com/VehicleDetails/new-2014-Chevrolet-Spark-Hatch_LS_%28Manual%29-Medford-OR/2155957043?cs:o=30479060 Can you meet or beat this price? Please respond by e-mail with your VERY BEST price on this vehicle. I am sending this same query to multiple dealers. Thank you." I'm quite amused at some of the responses: No way they can sell them for that. That's bai
  3. Saw this on Forbes this morning: http://www.forbes.com/sites/jimgorzelany/2014/02/05/cars-that-cost-the-least-to-own/ From the article: "Among them, the diminutive Chevrolet Spark actually garnered two separate awards, one each for the conventionally powered version in the subcompact category and the all-electric Spark EV among plug-in vehicles. KBB says the latter beats other electrified models like the Chevrolet Volt and Honda Accord Plug-In Hybrid in virtually all ownership factors." SH
  4. I saw that last night when I was looking through ads. Still can't find a dealer willing to let them go for any less than $12K here. I even did an intense search last night to try to find a local dealer who will match another advertised price. All the dealers around here that do state that they only do them within their major metropolitan area. I'm guessing they can sell them this cheap because they are buying the same model and trim in bulk, plus maybe less transportation fees since they are on the west coast. There's not a single dealer around here that has more than 10 Sparks in stock
  5. Got a new mailer in from GM Card. They are sweetening the $3000 another $250, plus giving $1000 Trade Assistance (how exactly does that work?) and $750 discount toward an option package. Wonder if I hold out longer if they'll sweeten it even more. I'm in contact with a lot of different dealers, but few are willing to budge on price more than a few hundred bucks. I still have a few weeks left to play hardball with them. SH
  6. Is the stereo on the base model upgraded for 2014 at all, or still the same 2013 specs? Only wish it had a CD player in it.
  7. Bought the newspaper yesterday again. Still no mention of a Spark - but a very large, prominently displayed ad singularly featuring the "all new" Fiat 500, starting at $11,995.
  8. I'm with you Shane, not real fond of the front - depending on how you look at it, it looks like the front end of the car has been in an accident and the hood is slightly popped up. I don't like the inverted look of the back either. In some ways the back reminds me of the Pontiac Aztec. Yuck. Kind of wish it would seat 5 as well. None of these things are deal breakers for me though... there are many other favorable features. Hard to tell what exactly is changing with this under wraps, but right now, it doesn't look like much. SH
  9. Thanks, Shane. Appreciate the offer. Still keeping my eyes open for something maybe a bit closer. Found a dealer in MA (Quirks?) that was offering 2000 off sticker. Of course, that's not Midwest either. Bought a newspaper this weekend - saw some Sonics at around 14K, but nary a mention of a Spark. Come to think of it, didn't see any Mirages, Yaris, Fiat 500's, or Versa Notes either. SH
  10. Looks like they have changed the position of the back door handles. Ditto everything Walt says. I only knew this car was available when I visited a Chevy dealer this summer looking at used cars. I was shown one when I was considering used vehicles. Perhaps that is THE marketing plan - sell them to people who are considering used, but would prefer new, but don't think they can afford it. SH
  11. HSK, Thanks for the update. Looking only at new right now. Got a quote from Bob Hook, but it wasn't substantially better than what I've been seeing in Cincinnati or Indianapolis. Looks like all the hot deals are out west. When I mentioned the current prices I found at these dealers to the local Chevy internet manager, he told me that whatever they can do, he can do, but that these were just bait and switch or gimmicks to get you in the door. I've got my number, so far no one can come close. So I'll keep looking. Maybe their tune will change at the end of the month. Doubt it, though.
  12. Hello Curtis. Also from Indiana. If you hear of any good deals on a 2014, let me know!
  13. I'd be happy settling for a silver or white - not really a fan of the more "exotic" colors. I'd actually prefer black, though I see it's a premium color. Nor am I looking for the 1LT, but just the base model Spark with either transmission. No doo-dads wanted or needed.
  14. Hello everyone, First post here. Currently own a Montana minivan that I picked up over the summer. I didn't want a minivan, but needed something with a hatch, and quick, as my Focus Wagon engine seized up on me. There weren't many options in my price range. Figured I'd replace in a year or two when something more to my liking came along. Would consider a used Yaris, Mazda 2, or a new Mirage perhaps. Chevy wasn't really on my list of possibilities. So in the mail comes a $3000 off voucher from my GM Card. Truthfully, I'm leery of GM after owning this Montana. But $3000 is $3000. It
