CVT Service Interval
Retired old Gearhead replied to MacintoshGuy's topic in Chevy Spark 2016+ (Gen IV)
By the very nature of a CVT it runs very hot all the time. Therefore, as far as the CVT is concerned that is severe driving. I would most definitely change it before 50,000 miles. Seems a fluid change fixes a lot of problems with that Jatco CVT unit! -
2015 CVT Rebuild
Retired old Gearhead replied to parashootist's topic in Chevy Spark 2007-2015 (Gen III)
try changing the fluid first you may be surprised at the results. -
not possible due to the different mating points. I do agree that the CV tees don’t last long, although I have one in my 2022 spark. I used to have a 2013. And it was extremely reliable in all areas and lasted me 167,000 mi. Oh and finally got rid of it to buy the 2022 unit with Cvt. not too many miles on it, and it runs extremely well and even drove it for a long stretch at 130mph. cvt’s usually last about 100,000 km but if you change the transmission fluid every 40 to 50,000 miles it can go on much longer. The 2014 units had a lot of issues most of which are fixed as of now.

Bad antenna?
Retired old Gearhead replied to tommyflick's topic in Audio, Navigation, MyLink and Navigations
2013 never had a fin antenna...just a straight-up rubber enclosed unit. My rubber enclosed part that sicks up about 6" was sheared off by my garage door..still get same reception. -
Oil change........
Retired old Gearhead replied to silverspark78's topic in Lounge: Chevy Spark Discussion
I would ask the dealer for synthetic first..if not offered for the free changes, mention it is recommended in the manual by GM. If they still insist on free conventional..well..then do it yourself. As Bobby said..keep all receipts..not just for oil..but every service item done by anyone..including the dealer. If there is ever any dispute you will have the paper to back you up..Right? -

Nice work keeping within budget...You certainly have my respect for trying this turbo mod..to my knowledge no one, at least on this forum, has tried this. Looks to me like you did your homework...keep us up to date..We are rooting for this to be successful. specially with your low costs so far.

hope it all fits...one step at a time..don't get the ECM reprogram until it all fits and is tested as working OK...nice work!

Cvt VS 6 speed auto
Retired old Gearhead replied to silverspark78's topic in Lounge: Chevy Spark Discussion
Indeed it would give better performance and the 6th gear is normally an overdrive ratio. Might not be easy to find one that fits though... -
Good choice..get that factory oil out between 600 to 1,000Kmi.
-
Under 2 bucks at parts store or dealer. I,m sure a dealer will replace at no cost..not warranty.
-
Nice job Blue! Are you sure the 1.4 engine can handle such a wide 2.5 pipe? Anyway..looks like you are on track to become the first person on this forum to install a turbo. I totally am rooting for you to succeed!!!..Keep us posted..K?

Just have the dealer check it next your in. If the CVT works ok without noise you are probably OK. Manual should have fluid capacities listed near back of manual. Hope this helps...
