Comments you have got on your Spark

Recommended Posts

I get that a lot... Also why didn't you get a green one? And I guess you never lose it. Then the that's a cute car,and what kind of mileage does it get.

I have the big green frog in the back seat and when I go through a drive through I tell the girl at the window. "My friend in back wants a large order of Flies...."

Lol.

Oh no they didn't! It is not ugly like the Aztec, that thing was hideous!

I, too, was attracted to the Spark by its styling. I think it is even more attractive than the Sonic, which is a good looking ride. The Aztek was the ugliest thing ever to come out of GM. YUCK!

Nice wheels (winter set up), how is it in the snow, cute, a Smart car is in the lot, what kind of mpg and the follow up is it a hybrid? How do you fit in it, did you remove front seat, is it fast, how

Since my Spark is modified (mostly appearance), I get a lot of good looks and interest. I've had a guy befriend me at a hand car wash station just because he liked my Spark and wanted to look at it more closely. He even helped me wax the car. I had another guy at a tuning shop (another customer) looking my car up and down and then when the engine was started, he loved the sound. An owner of a SELF SERVE gas station came out whenever I arrived (the first 2 times). He would ask me about the car and stuff. He looked like he wanted to steal it off me.

Some kids described my car as, "BOOM BOOM". Other girls looked at my car and just gave me a look. I don't know what that means (was it good or bad?). Some older men complain about my car noise saying that something is broken and I have to get it fixed at the car center. They've told me about 4-5 times now in the past couple months. I told them it's not broken LOL. It's just a resonator delete.

But I'm not delusional, I know that it's still just a Spark. I struggle to get uphills like every other Spark and I have to step on it hard just

to accelerate and keep up with all the other cars lol. But hey, at least it looks gooooooooood lol. I was thinking of turbocharging it but why spend 4 grand to add just 20-30 hp. I could just save that money and buy a new car later on.

The Spark was the best selling car in 2012 in Denmark, so the is bunches of them everywhere. So not really a headturner as such, by with my mods it seems to attract much attention. Mostly the big stereo is a hit a car meets, since 90% of the ricers don't have a clue to make it sound properly.

LOL!....I'd be a bit leery of "guy befriend me at a hand car wash station"....Seriously though, looks like you have some nicely done appearance mods to your Spark. Looks slightly different than the US models. Never could understand why people with tiny engines would want their car to be louder. Guy down the road has a 620hp newer Corvette and it is fairly silent...guess with 620hp he is more interested in speed rather than how it sounds.

I am in to the tone and not the loudness myself. Anyone with a V8 can make it sound like it has a lot of power. I had a 81 Malibu with a 262V8 that had barely 120HP but I put dual exhaust and some good mufflers on it and it "sounded" like it had 500hp....making a small motor sound good is much harder. Most of the time is sounds worse. An exhaust system needs to be tuned to fit the car, not just slapped together with any old muffler and pipes.

How true! I see so many small engine cars modified that sound so ridiculously loud it almost sounds like they have no muffler at all. It is very hard to get a small engine to sound properly 'deep' rather than just painfully loud. The stock engine and stainless exhaust already sounds good from the drivers seat.

With the 205/50/15 tires on the stock rims, I get comments like..."looks sporty and fun to drive". Some ask if it is electric mostly because of the small size and the 'Spark' name.

This morning my wife and I were coming out of Bojangles and a couple were getting out of a brand new Ford Explorer beside us. It still had the sticker in the side window. The guy asked me what our car was, I told him a Chevy Spark, he then asked what kind of gas mileage it got. I told him about 33-35 in the city and 40-45 on the highway. Then his wife asked how much it cost. I told her I paid right at $14,000 for it but you can get them for close to $11,000. She turned to her husband and said," We should have gotten one of those!". The husband turned bright red and walked quickly away. I looked at the sticker on the window of the Explorer and the MSRP on it was right at $45,000.

I don't think that the Aztek was ugly, just a bit weird. Decent ones are now being sought after. If you want real UGLY, look no farther than the Nissan Juke or Cube.

Yeah there are a lot of SUV type vehicles that are much uglier than the Aztek was. But everyone does not want to admit the Aztek was just ahead of its time.

Yes, I'm into the tone more so than loudness. I don't like loudness either. I don't like the drone or the ricey sound when accelerating. When I'm staying under 2,000 rpms, I'll like to open the valve and it sounds really low and angry (which is nice) but if I'm going over 2,000 rpm, it gets way too loud for my liking so I shut the valve. I'd never want to remove the muffler, but the resonator delete is not bad as long as you keep the muffler on as it dampens the noise still but is louder than stock.

This is why I'm in the market looking for aftermarket mufflers for the Spark. I'm thinking about getting a new muffler (swap out the stock) or add a 2nd muffler....I'd love to know how much it sounds different without actually making the changes and paying, cause then I'd have to UNDO the changes and pay more again lol. But I guess that's how it is...there's no way to really know unless I found someone who has a resonator delete with aftermarket muffler and see how it sounds compared to mine.

Yeah, the one thing I really hate about the Spark is the crappy hp. I'm still not used to it. I'll never get used to it. Even on my ford focus which had 130 hp, that was plenty enough to zip off the line if I needed to. With the Spark, I can't zip off the line unless I want to redline my car constantly :(

With the air box resonator delete under the hood, and a high flow air filter, it definitely added a little more zip, but gas mileage went down a lot (about 15-20% worse fuel mileage since I opened up the airways and let the car breathe better). Now that it's winter, the gas is even worse! I'll be lucky if I can get 350 km per full tank (no highway driving, 100% local driving).

I actually prefer removing the rear muffler and adding a straight pipe. Gives it a nice and deep sound. And idle sound is pretty good. A bit more noisy when cruising, but not much.

It sounds good, too! I've always wondered how much of a difference the sound would be if we played around with the exhaust set up:

A) no resonator, yes muffler

B] yes resonator, no muffler

C) no resonator, no muffler (I know this one would be unbearable and sound awfully loud)

D) yes resonator, yes muffler (this is obviously stock)

E) no resonator, dual exhaust exit (from single pipe, not true dual exhaust) with muffler on each pipe

F) no resonator, dual exhaust exit (from single pipe, not true dual exhaust) with only 1 muffler, other pipe has no muffler (this is my setup)

*mine has an electronic valve metal flap/gate: when the gate is opened, it's really loud, but deep at low rpms. When the gate is closed, it louder/deeper than stock, but not annoying loud...no drone either).

G) aftermarket resonator, yes muffler

etc.

I wish there was a way to sample out the sound on all these setups.

Thats just removing the muffler and replace with straight pipe? Sounds pretty good to me.

Yes, no muffler and straight pipe. Anything else would be a pain to drive with - it is still pleasent to drive the car for many hours, and still had a nice grunt to it.

Coworker: Looks like a pregnant rollerskate

Daughter: I saw you pull up and expected a bunch of clowns to come falling out

Mother-in-law: You can carry that around in your pocket instead of parking it

Mother-in-law: I didn't realize it had four doors and a back seat.

It doesn't bother me. I love the car.

Oh no they didn't! It is not ugly like the Aztec, that thing was hideous!

One of my coworkers drive an Aztec. The strangest thing about them their gas cap is exposed. So many of them are jealous and loved my 2015 Chevy Spark LS.

jealousy ... their cast get crap MPG ... ours doesn't burn a hole in the poket =D

lucky for my my job has small car lovers.

theres a nissan versa, smart, mazda m2, kia soul, VW golf, honda fit... even our ugly cousin the Aveo pops up every now and then lol

we all have our tiny toys tricked out and modded too... cant wait to go back to work and show off everything i've done to mine... last time anyone saw it the spark was completely STOCK (minus the speakers) ... its gonna look like a completely different car now =D

I seen a chevy aveo at work in a parking lot. It looks too plain. At first, when I told them I bought a 2015 Chevy Spark, my co-workers had no clue what its looks like. So many of them are jealous and saying it is so darn cute! Only one of them said it looks like a martian alien.

I usually take the compliments with a thank you and when I hear the ugly comment I try to see what kind of car they get into, so far most of the time it's a ratted out Honda or Toyota...

I still get asked if its electric, then the what kind of mileage does it get... I have never heard a bad comment about the interior....yet.
