J-Van 1
Has anyone ever removed he steering wheel? I can feel 4 to 6 screws at the back of it. Do you pull the horn "plate" off and then remove? I'm scared to damage or trigger the airbag. I want to get to the plasic part of the steering wheel (where the US version has the radio and cruise controll butoons). I want to paint the part. Any suggestions or advise would be awesome. Thanks, Jan
Alyse 0
I'm not sure but be careful with the air bag. Always remove the negative battery cable before you work around an air bag.

Greg_E 211
The factory service manual may be getting close to release, need to contact a different dealer and see what they say.
Clyde001 0
I also haven't touch them ever because there is a big risk for air bags and I don't know how to deal with them.. and I also think you don't should mess up them them.. go to garage and pay some bucks instead of taking any touble. Its the best way. Good Luck
Guest air bag removal
Always disconnect the battery so the air bag won't go off the hit you, wait 5 min for power to drain. Turn the steering wheel all the way until the chevy emblem is upside down. Now you will find 2 wholes in the back if the steering wheel. Stick a screw driver in and push to the side and or turn until the 2 pins holding the air bag release. Jstack6
ChevyBeat 28
Hi, anyone tried taking steering wheel out? I have some plan with the mentioned space on wheel. I am not afraid of airbag, as I don't have one. BTW mine is Chevy Spark (Beat in India) 2010 LS, also known as matiz creative.
