2008nigel 0
My 2013 1.2 Spark (UK spec) is currently off the road - engine spins but fuel pump & ECU do not activate. Fuses, fuses boxes, relays & the pump itself have all been tested. The electronics specialist trying to fix it has attempted to obtain schematics to trace the fault or speak to a technician at a couple of Chevy Service Centres without success. As I live on the Isle of Wight it is looking like I may have to transport the car to the mainland unless anyone has schematics available.
Retired old Gearhead 201
If they are certified by GM they should be able to get the specs they need from GM with one phone call or fax. They can supply it in digital (needs a special program) or visual via fax or email.
2008nigel 0
Thanks R.O.G., unfortunately Chevy pulled out of the UK a while back (although they still sell the Corvette & Camaro at a few dealerships) and neither of the designated Service Centres that were contacted have been helpful. I have also tried the Tech Centre at Vauxhall (the UK branch of GM) but no reply from them as yet - hence my request.
Ray Dockrey 97
Has the ignition switch been checked?
2008nigel 0
Are you referring to the transponder near to the ignition barrel that registers the presence of the chip in the key? If so, yes - by using my spare key after disconnecting the battery terminals for 30 minutes to reset the transponder. It made no difference - dash lights up & engine spins but fuel pump does not activate.
Ray Dockrey 97
No, I mean the actual ignition switch. If the ignition switch fails in the run position it won't provide electrical to certain systems like the ecu or the fuel pump. I don't know about the Spark but on a couple of other cars I have had what you are describing is caused by a bad ignition switch.
Mr.tozzi 66
It is possible that it could be a bad gas pedal. I dont quite remember what gets cut off when holding the gas pedal to the floor while cranking, spark or fuel, maybe both. but the car does not start if you do so, you can crank it forever but will not fire. The pedal sensors may have failed in a way that did not throw a cel. There are a few tutorials on how to test the pedal online.

Very likely the fuel pump itself..located inside the fuel tank..check connections all around..fuses as well as fuel pump connections. Always keep the fuel tank at least 1/4 full as the fuel keeps the pump cool..if you have been driving the car a lot with very low fuel levels..this could be the cause or just a bad pump..so check the above before you do anything else..K?
