'13 Spark Manual Throttling Issues?

Recommended Posts

I've noticed for quite some time that the RPMs stay around 3-4K for several seconds after initiating neutral coasting. No real issues there, just weird that the engine is revving itself. This morning it wouldn't start but it was clear that the battery wasn't the issue-- it was trying hard to turn over and didn't sound weak at all. Lights and radio never faded. I proceeded to push it into the street and get it turned around in the driveway so I could try jumping it in case I was wrong about the battery (it was pulled into the garage--no way to get to the battery otherwise). When I got it in the driveway again, I tried starting it again for shits and giggles and it cranked a couple of times and started right up. Could the issue be connected to the throttling problem? I would prefer not to sound completely ignorant or be taken for a ride when I take it to the dealer for an oil change and service on Thursday. After work it started fine and I've had no issues since.

If the car idles smoothly & runs ok after it starts, it could be just a rare flooding problem that seems to happen from time to time after a shutdown from a normal high temp engine..I have heard of that before..try letting the engine idle a minute or so after a drive making sure it idles smoothly and this seems to help. The next time that happens, try to push all the way down on the gas while starting. The throttle issue, as The Drip stated is normal to burn off excess emissions as well as making it easier to get into gear at speed.
