Just bought used 2013, only has 1 key

If you take them your registration with your name on it and ID showing the same name you should be fine. The rental place should have given you both keys. hope you got a deal on it, the replacement key fobs are expensive, especially with the reprogramming and everything

You don't need an proof of ownership.

How – With one programmed transmitter availabel

NOTE: A maximum of 8 key transmitters can be programmed

Insert programmed master key transmitter into ignition

Switch ignition ON

Switch ignition OFF

Remove master key transmitter

Within 10 seconds insert new key transmitter and switch ignition ON

New key transmitter now programmed

You can only do this with a brand new key, never used on a car before. As the chip can only be programmed to one car.

I recently bought a used 2013 Spark LS and was only given one key. This car was bought from Hertz Car Sales. This key is not a fob key but just a simple key and it has a chip inside. If I purchase a blank can I program it through the ignition method?

Is there any way to check if chevy key is blank one or with chip (I guess for engine immobilizer)? I am asking as mine spark have GM accessory remote locking system, autocop, which is an aftermarket kind. So originally with vehicle is just a pair of keys. Looking at keys I can't say if they have chip or not.
