Ray Dockrey 97
So are you saying that this has been on going and you just always just turned it off and then back on to clear it?
deal4412 0
So are you saying that this has been on going and you just always just turned it off and then back on to clear it? I assumed that maybe it was in LIMP mode or the computer was messing up so restarting it might resolve the problem. I had done this in the past when the vehicle would not shift out of first and it always fixed it for a few days/weeks until it happened again. That is a separate issue from the one I mentioned above. I received an update regarding the current repairs, and GM is putting a new head in cylinder 4. We are also having it serviced for recall #14410 (PCV valve) while the vehicle is at the dealership. Hopefully I can get out of paying for the spark plug service, which were obviously damaged as a result of these issues (who replaces spark plugs at 46,000 miles!).

dubsmx13 7
Anyone else have this problem? I took my spark to get all the recalls done, pcv included. My car was not burning/leaking oil or anything bad at all. I notice this week (got the "repair" in march) that it smells like oil is burning. I check the dipstick and what do ya know? very little oil! this was with only maybe 300 miles on the oil change done after the recall. Sooooooo anyone else have a problem after the recall repair? Im taking it back in probably Tuesday morning this coming week. Overall not happy though that i now have a problem i didnt have before
Retired old Gearhead 201
I doubt very much it is burning oil. Since you describe the oil burning smell, it is most likely a loose oil filter leaking oil onto the hot under parts like exhaust system. Oil spreads pretty far back from the filter while driving..so that is my best guess and I would not add oil, just take it in ASAP. A problem with the PCV they replaced would present as rough idle and lack of power..so that is not the problem. A loose oil filter is easily fixed and while you are there ask the for a free oil change coupon for the inconvenience and the possible engine damage had you ignored it and kept on driving. I just noticed you did not mention an oil change so it could be that when the PCV was replaced it was not threaded or tightened properly and is leaking oil into the valve cover area. Have a look at the drivers side of the valve cover area and below for oil. Still I would take it in before you run into problems. WaltK 305
Reading this makes me nervous to buy a Spark now... Nah, all the bugs have been ironed out, can't speak for the '16 yet, not enough of them on the road yet. Retired old Gearhead

bluer101 241
I love mine, but hated the AC issue. Now that it's fixed no complaints at all.
Retired old Gearhead 201
Ya..as Walt said...all the bugs are now ironed out on the 2013. The 2014 onward still have some CVT issues that have mostly been identified and recalls issued. What "dubsmx13" was referring to with the oil loss and burning oil smell is most likely a leak somewhere and not the PCV issue as that would present in a different way with lights and very bad performance. Lots of 2013's with over 100Kmi out there and one 2014 manual tranny with 99Kmi I know of. My mechanic has serviced at least 3 2013's with over 120Kmi for brakes and standard servicing and our Pizza guy who drives the heck outa his 2013 auto tranny has over 150Kmi as of last Friday when he was at our place for a delivery I asked him if he has any issues...non, zero, zilch & burns very little of the cheap as he can find conventional oil. Only brakes and tires replaced and 2 wheel bearings after he hit a curb...normal stuff and he wanted to show me how smooth his engine idles, popped the hood and, ya..smooth with very little vibration...still gets about same gas mileage as when new..so that shows the car is good even when driven by a crazy fast Pizza guy who makes more money the faster he goes...'Nuff said on that. sparkfanatic 70
The major bugs have been worked out but not everything . Nothing that would prevent me from buying a 2016 but I still have an occasional disappearing prndl glitch requiring a restart that others have had even after Chevy applied their fix . I think I was the only one who had the TSB done but it didn't help anything .
thultheis 0
Thank you for this forum, 2 weeks ago I was floored that I was 1,000 still needed before next oil change, horrible knocking noise, discovered no oil in engine, no oil light came on and was losing power shifting (manual transmission) since taking back to oil change place, having them drop the oil and refill, I have had to add oil every day, it is not leaking out the bottom, no blue smoke or anything like that. Antifreeze tank is clean. Then I decided to check, thank you thank you thank you to whomever posted about the recall #14110. I took it to 2 different places one being a certified Chevy dealer shop and they didn't even bother to look up recalls. Tried to get me to replace the Knock Sensor. Taking to a different Chevy Certified place tomorrow, here is hoping it is the pc valve only. I love my car! It has worked great with minimal issues, basically just regular maintenance.
