Why did the car dealer charge me 2950.00 for a service contract?

Recommended Posts

Service contracts are commodity items these days that can be purchased through any dealer authorized to sell a GM extended protection plan. I bought my Spark in MA but ended up getting the best deal on an extended GM major guard plan through a dealer in the south via a web search. I purchased an 84 month, 84K miles, no deductible plan for $1.6K. This was a real GM extended service plan, not an aftermarket plan.
