  1. Connectivity of MyLink radio ..... rated one of the best by USA Today paper You can adjust volume of warning chimes Hidden tail pipe Overall looks ... has a certain cachet Excellent tone controls on radio Four speed auto is very smooth Review mirror makes me look two years younger OnStar
  2. When I am speaking the number I want to call, the system starts repeating the number back to me before I am finished. For instance, I say 1999850 and OnStar will voice those numbers back to me while I am talking to enter the last few numbers. Why doesn't it let me say the whole number before doing anything? Thanks.
  3. People aren't getting close to your rear bumper because you have a small car. Instead, I believe, one or more of our mirrors make them to appear closer than they really are; maybe a safety factor when backing up. Have found this to be true for most of my cars.
  4. Thanks. The on/off function works normally with more continuous pressing. Haven't had a problem at all.
  5. Yes, it will fit the Spark without doing anything. Like I say, mine is a Saturn Ion from 2004. If I remember correctly, Ions 03 and up have a center bore of 57.1 so it will fit the Spark. Everything else is also compatible In including the four hole bolt pattern. Getting a scissor jack is another thing. You can't use a jack with a flat top as the Spark has a slight downward ridge on the seam. I bought a jack online at Harbor Freight. Do a search on "scissor jacks." The one you want, with the notch on top, will came up first on the results page. I think that it was about $18.
  6. The stock tire doesn't even begin to fit. I tried it. Your purchase will have a diameter of about 23 inches which will jut upward quite a ways because the tire well is somewhat conical and gets smaller at the bottom. Your tire may go about 1/3 of the way down. Look, I went thru all this. If you want something that fits nicely, you will need a 14 inch rim with an appropriate donut tire; what many call a space saver tire. If GM ever comes out with a spare tire kit, it will be 14 inches with a donut tire. It is the only thing that will fit. I picked up a 2004 Saturn Ion space sa
  7. Why do you want a 15 inch spare? It most likely will not fit in the tire well in the trunk area. A 14 inch rim with a 115-70-14 donut tire will have a diameter of about 20.34 inches and fit nicely at the bottom of the trunk well. Just a thought as I am not an expert in this.
  8. Thanks for the info. I will try it out over the next few days. I have also had the radio come on (two times) but the "off" screen remains. At that point I press the "Home" button and the main menu comes up, so not a real problem. A couple times when the radio would not turn on, I started driving and the radio came on after a few blocks; just came on with no activity on my part. Makes me think that the radio software was busy and got to the "on" request when it finished what it was doing. I picked up a 14 inch donut spare from eBay that fits nicely since it has a center bore (5
  9. I told them that the only problem I have had with my two-month-old Spark is related to the on/off button on the MyLink radio. Sometimes I have to press lightly while other times I have to put my full weight behind the push. On rare occasions I can't turn the radio off or on at all and have to wait a couple minutes before trying again to have success. Most of the time it works fine with normal finger pressure, so it is only a minor irritation. I also told them that I was pretty ticked off because they weren't offering a spare tire kit option. Otherwise, I gave a good review of the car.
  10. My wife and I are from Sacramento area and spent a few days at 5300 feet thru 7100 feet in Truckee, California, and Incline Village, Nevada. The car ran fine for the most part, but as you would expect it had to work hard on some of the steep hills. Overall, tho, we were pleased with how the car performed. We have an automatic Spark and I found the trans to be efficient, but we might have done better on the steeper hills with a manual trans. We got around 32 mpg overall in the mountains, but got home with the computer reading 37.1 mpg because it is mostly down hill for 50 miles comi
  11. Going on short trip next week that will take me up to 5300 feet. Has anyone had experience driving the Spark at altitude?
  12. I completed the survey this morning. I was able to communicate to them how unhappy I was that GM did not offer an optional space saver spare tire for the Spark. I was also not connected to any gift certificate offer.
  13. Just read a blurb in the local paper that said Chevy is not advertising the no frills Spark on TV because they are aiming at the under 35 market and those members of our species don't watch much TV. Instead, they are promoting the Spark on social media sites. Sales are better than expected, so all seems well in that regard.
  14. Usually companies never let themselves and customers discuss passwords or pins. The creation or changes of these should be done only by the customer. To me it is a huge security breach getting a pin from a customer service rep who could pass it on to who knows. Could you imagine a bank do this for, say, getting a new pin for your debit card. Believe me there is no person to person involvement with a bank. Maybe OnStar has a way to do it that would avoid this problem. For instance, they could have you key in your desired pin from phone keyboard. We will see.
  15. This is a nice app, but unlocking the door requires you to enter a four digit pin. When I set up my account online it never asked me to create this pin and I don't think that you can do so after the account is created. I think that they want to force you to call to create your pin so they can try to line you up with navigation and hands-free calling. Am I getting paranoid?
