What coolant temperature range your Spark runs at?
mitogt replied to Bobby MSME's topic in Chevy Spark 2007-2015 (Gen III)
My TSTAT was bad, stuck closed, engine could reach 115 C not good, gutted the TSTAT for now and is running between 80 and 96 C usually stays around 80 on a hot day ac full on, if I stop and go trafficc and not ac it moves 89-96 C if I put AC it drops to 80 C, when my engine was hot over 100 it rattled and that worried me. Now that it runs cooler no rattle in valve system, I have always used 5-20W full syntetic oil since new, have over 50,000 miles now. these electronic tstat make me wonder.- 10 replies

well I will order the Tstat, if I buy it here in my country it will cost $150, no thanks, will order it amazon, by the way I took off the internal parts of the Tstat, gutted, now engine temp stays around 80 to 90 degrees celsius barely makes it to 96 and then down when fan kicks in. will leave like that for a while but will consider putting it back. Car stays cooler, gas milage is about the same, havent measured it.
-
yeah its an OBII scaner plug in with wifi, android phone app, OBD Doctor, what ive learned is these cars have a 105 temp stamped on, but the ECT controlls the TSTAT to open before and controls the car temperature and in case that fails the TSTAT will open at 105, car should run around the day in the 95 to 96 range, fans shut off below 94 so it must mean its cool enough. to much electronics makes it more prone to fail, just my 2 cents.

$32, dirt cheap and easy to change, I got my 2013 with same code and usually its P0599 but I just erase it and go on with my life, with scanner on all day I check temp and stays 107, Tstat opens at 105 so not that big deal. These are disposable cars, Im using it till it brakes apart.

195/50/15 is what Ive got, corners like its on rails, nitrogen in them. Horizon is the brand, China made, but what the heck it has worked well in a bit over 2 years, no problems in rubbing.

I just replaced the front brake pads and checked the rear drums, look like new, almost 50,000 miles on it. Resurfaced the rotors and like new braking again. Have no problems on mine, will use it for more time, getting a Mustang next week 5.0 Foxbody hatch AOD, 60,000 miles on it, 1990 lx, yellow not my color will change color back to original since yellow wasnt the original color available that year model, its a hobby car and in pretty good condition. I can understand some had bad luck with there Spark but i know for fact mine is built in same factory as yours in Korea. I just take good care o -
My 2013 Chevy Spark: Good-bye and Good Luck/Riddance!
mitogt replied to DriverGuy's topic in Chevy Spark 2007-2015 (Gen III)
Its a keeper for now the Spark, the Ford Escape is a New York used one, rust bucket, NOPE. Will use the Spark and get a 5.0 Mustang again, 1990 LX Hatchback with 60,000 original miles for $2500, old lady passed away and kids are selling it dirt cheap. So will be here more time with the Chevy Spark. will replace the brake pads on the Spark , they lasted about 22,000 miles, I drive fast sometimes in a mountain where I live, brake hard so I bet if wasnt like that they would last more. -

Mine is a 2013, Im use to driving V8 Mustangs so you can imagine how i feel with power, but 3 kids and all the bills the Spark has done its job. Will probably sell it but because I need something bigger, my kids are growing and are feeling to tight, I drive mostly alone but certain times pick kids in school. Will get a 2005 Used Ford escape 4x4 v6, hope it goes well. I did enjoy mine with almost 50,000 miles and no problems but the warped rotor and thats it. No electrical problems or engine whatsover. almost 40mpg in the city
