  1. Well, the deal is done. We traded her Spark on a '12 Elantra Limited that is loaded. It was a nice try, buying the Spark, however it is evident that GM and Chevy specifically just doesn't build them like they used to. Plus we got the balance of the 10 year/100K mile warranty on the Elantra.....she only has 31K miles and is in fantastic shape..... At least my lady tried to go GM, it just wasn't worth the headaches. Farewell folks, good luck with your Sparks.
  2. Katie took her Spark in for the A/C recall. In spite of the fact that the appointment was made 3 or 4 weeks in advance, the dealer didn't have the parts, so she's gotta go back this week to be finished. And after that, she's 'outta here' as the late Harry Kalas used to announce. She has been having issues with an intermittent whine from the fuel pump area plus now she smells gas on occasion. Well, the service writer told her (get this) that it's NORMAL to be hearing noises when the fuel tank is low. I never have heard such a thing unless the pump is going bad. Also, after she got it home
  3. Katie's Spark emits this high-pitched squealing noise from the rear of the car from time to time. Almost sounds like it's coming from the fuel tank area....wondering if it's the fuel pump starting to go? Trouble is, it never does it when it goes in to the dealer. She told them about it but of course they can do nothing without hearing it. Seems to be temperature related, didn't do it in the winter, but now that the heat is upon us it is doing it again. Anybody else have this issue?
  4. The My Link system totally went out in December and the dealership put a brand new unit in and now Katie is telling me that today when on XM the volume went out and the screen was very cloudy looking.....she switched to a FM station and it came back on, then went back to XM and it was fine. She also said that a couple of days ago when she turned it on it would not do anything for about a minute, then started acting normally. When she had it replaced in December, it just flat dropped dead and would not power up at all. Anybody else having issues? This stuff keeps up and Sparky will be getti
  5. Has anybody ever replaced this? A piece of ice drilled Sparky in the hood and put a hole in the assembly. I was searching for an exploded view of the assembly installed in the car with no luck. Anybody got something on this? Thanks
  6. It's my wife's car.....I drive it very seldom, but she does a lot of around town driving, her job involves a lot of driving and visiting clients and such. She is not a speedster by any means, doesn't beat it. She drove it from the Philly area to Pittsburgh and got great gas mileage, but unfortunately a deer jumped out at her and hit the side and knocked the driver's mirror off, it's going in the body shop on Monday to get fixed back up. She is kind of disillusioned by it to be honest, she likes it (especially the gas mileage) but is worried about the reliability. We will see after it comes
  7. I have absolutely no clue. They hooked it up and said that's what it was. The funny thing was that they didn't even have one for it in stock!!! They had to order the damn thing and we had to drive it back up there a week later......how the hell a dealership could not have a plug for a car they sell new is beyond me!!
  8. Mine was back at the dealer with 8K miles because the RR wheel bearings went bad, started humming and kept getting louder and louder. She now has about 20K miles and has been back 4 times: Once for the bearings, twice because the Check Engine light came on and she was running crappy (Spark plug was replaced by dealer) and the MyLink system just plain crapped out and died, they had to replace the entire unit. I told the salesman it was starting to remind me of my old Vega...........
  9. I just had a flat fixed on the RR at Pep Boys and the light is still lit. Do I have to reset the computer to make it go out? Thanks.
  10. Greetings! I have a '13 Spark 1LT with the MyLink and the temperature is in Centigrade. How do I change it back to Fahrenheit? Thanks.
